At the bottom of every document related to the pilot it states that it will only proceed to a national roll out if it works.
The LTB makes it quite clear: doing nothing isn't an option and just ditching Saturdays isn't an option. It's the ODM or a three day USO. Clearly the ODM is happening within a short timeframe.
It’s interesting to me that they’ve convinced everyone, even our union, that the only option is to increase our workload drastically. The answer is not to cut out layers of pointless managers, or to admit they overspent on massive superhubs which have a capacity we are unlikely to ever reach. Nor is the answer to be found in proper auditing of massive trials which amount to nothing because they don’t improve anything. The USO Pilot is just one of several trials THIS YEAR.

No, the answer, is to whip us harder.

Don't think it's a trial, I think it will be rolled out nationally later this year. There'd be no need for the MC realignments if they weren't going to roll it out nationally.

So basically the message is “if it doesn’t work it’s still coming in anyway” which interprets as “we need you to find a way of making it work and once you do we’ll call you lazy c***s who are inefficient and need to change as you’re taking the piss out of the company”.

Sounds like a good idea!!!

Hold the phone.

If it's unachievable doing double mail every other day, why on earth do the union think we would be able to deliver everything with a 3 day uso?
You'd still need people in 6 days a week to clear the tracked as well.

You’ve hit on the nonsense of the threat, ‘If you don’t do this it will be a 3 day week!!’

There will still be 6 billion items of mail to be delivered.

What makes you think COMs won't just start to RTS millions of pieces of mail to save their bonus?

Bit like the “administration” threat thought up during the strikes. Something just thought up on the hoof by RM & CWU both thinking “ah yes, this’ll stump em & then scare them into accepting anything but the dark scenario we are painting”.

We've been told it's going ahead regardless of the trials, phased in from July, no choice over duty patterns, we are getting 2 in 5, which means longer days.

It's only longer days if you do a 4 day week

Wrong, 2 in 5 gets you an extra Saturday off.

But it won't be an extra Saturday as well as another day off that week though. The weeks you get Saturday off, you be in Mon-Fri.

All options have a longer day except for on a Saturday when you would work 7hrs, same as now.

Not according to the duty options, you get a Friday Saturday as well as a Monday Saturday.

ah, so like an extended weekend.
I don't think we will have the staff to make most of the options work, so I fully expect a cobbled together slightly better than current attendance patterns.

We weren't given a choice, you might not get one either.
