I think my parcel is lost

Hello everyone, hopefully you can shed some light in the situation I am in. I have a parcel which was sent to Romania and on 02 April 2025 had the following status: Item Leaving the UK - LANGLEY HWDC. That is the last status of the parcel, so now I am wondering if the parcel did indeed leave the UK or is it stuck somwhere in customs or what I fear most, lost. When I try to track it on the local Post website in Romania nothing comes up and I am recieving contradictaroy information when I contacted the Post there: the item did not arrive in the country or it arrived but was not yet scanned by customs. This is very weird and somewhat of a black hole without any accurate information of where my parcel might be. When i previously sent items from UK to Romania, it was never this long, so this makes me nervous that indeed it might be lost.

Item leaving the UK = Royal Mail put it on the plane.

Most countries do not scan items in or out of customs, so the next scan we expect is when customs hand it over to the local postal service.

Some customs services chose random batches of mail for extra checks, meaning that customs clearance times are not consistent.

So a delay could mean that there is a problem with the contents or it could just mean that it is selected for extra checks. If you want extra reassurance, if you tell us what is inside then we can tell you if it is likely to cause an issue.

Animal products are on the prohibited list. Importantly, the restricted list includes raw hides and skins, leather, fur skins, and articles made from them, such as handbags. Consequently, failing to provide the necessary paperwork and declarations could lead to your leather bag being detained or even disposed of by Romanian Customs.
