Re: Trail options
Double mail, triple mail, one weeks mail its irrelevant at this point. Whatever it is it doesn’t really matter what they give you, you are there for a set amount of hours. Been the way for afew years, just do what you can and go home.

Re: Trail options
We've got this issue too but the opposite way round. New build growth and revisions meant many if not all of about 10 - 15 what were were 'pure' rurals - outside the town limits, first drop a farm etc. had bits of new builds that were on the edges on town put on them as they were too far for a HCT walk to get to - or they were given the large parcels, SD's on the town roads that led to their rural to drop off - as it was on the way! Some parts of these new builds that were given to the 'rural' are 100 - 150 houses. Often you'll see two 'rural' bods on parts of the same new build estate before they get to their 'rural'.Perseus wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025, 19:12Is there a difference between singleton van duties and rural duties when it comes to this new way?
We have a few bona fide Rural duties, who appear to be going to be left as they are, 6 day delivery of all items. However, we also have quite a few singleton duties that have maybe 45 minutes worth of Rural on them, at the edge of villages etc. The rest of the duty is full on suburbia. Is there a threshold of what makes a duty Rural?
So I can understand your point - what's a rural route anymore?

Re: Trail options
Good point, I suppose it will become apparent but surely they'll send in a planner to change the rurals to be all rural and create duties that only do suburban areas, or is that too simple, otherwise it won't work properly will it you'll potentially get next street or even nextdoor neighbours when one gets a delivery every day and the other 5 times fortnightly.yellowbelly wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 11:08We've got this issue too but the opposite way round. I shouldn't laugh, but that is happening all over just now, just for other reasons.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 11:17Good point, I suppose it will become apparent but surely they'll send in a planner to change the rurals to be all rural and create duties that only do suburban areas, or is that too simple, otherwise it won't work properly will it you'll potentially get next street or even nextdoor neighbours when one gets a delivery every day and the other 5 times fortnightly.yellowbelly wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 11:08We've got this issue too but the opposite way round. Re: Trail options
Been like that for a while in ours, in times of really really bad staff shortages on paper at least, we only had enough staff to deliver to each address 3-4 times a week. Instead of that happening, some shared vans rotated (as best they could), some duties got mail once a week, and others got mail every day.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 12:07Haha I know, the shared van duty I live on went out alternating all week, next street down went out every day.Perseus wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 11:53I shouldn't laugh, but that is happening all over just now, just for other reasons.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 11:17Good point, I suppose it will become apparent but surely they'll send in a planner to change the rurals to be all rural and create duties that only do suburban areas, or is that too simple, otherwise it won't work properly will it you'll potentially get next street or even nextdoor neighbours when one gets a delivery every day and the other 5 times fortnightly.yellowbelly wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025, 11:08We've got this issue too but the opposite way round. Re: Trail options
This is exactly why paying 4 or 5 COMs a 45K salary each to run an office is ridiculous. Back in the day line managers used to occasionally take the odd bag out on delivery to clear the office. Now it depends on what side of the street you live on whether you get mail.
I've heard the term "firefighting" a lot over the last few years from management, still doesn't stop them f***ing off home at the earliest opportunity every day lol

Whatever trails are going on, let's ensure they're happy.

This is the 2nd time I've posted this, seems every day is not a skool day.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Trail options
Can anyone explain why 2 in 6 is better then 2 in 5 for full time jobs?.

Re: Trail options
With 2 in 6 the day off covers are full time, where as the 2 in 5 that are part time.
In my office we can only realistically choose one option as the good ones don't fit our late start times.
