Urgent help please.

Post by Mc1601 »

Hi, as a former postie at Dawson Road, Milton Keynes, I'm hoping someone will please help with something really urgent.

I have been asked to plan a wedding in Malta, the majority of paperwork is already over in Malta, but one letter got sent last week.

The tracking number is LE515083495GB and on the tracking page it shows as 02nd April leaving the UK, Langley HWDC this document has to be delivered by Wednesday this week, I was told 3 days for it to get to Malta, Malta Post say that it has not arrived, is anyone in the know enough to tell me where this document is please?

It's almost certainly stuck in Maltese customs:

Malta

Start date: 23 March 2025
Latest update: 2 April 2025
End date: To be advised
Incident: Customs Delays

Malta Post have informed us that owing to the implementation of a new Import system by their customs authorities it is currently experiencing delays in the processing of mail items subject to customs clearance.

Malta Post is working with the customs authorities to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

So, Malta Post are very adamant that this item has not left the UK and arrived in Malta.

Does anyone have a phone number that I can ring to try and get to the bottom if it please? Preferably not an automated thing that takes me to everywhere I don't want to go to!

In this situation, both Malta Post and Royal Mail are accurate in their claims.

Once a package has passed through UK customs, it is considered to be outside of the UK. However, it has not officially arrived in Malta until it passes through Malta's customs.

Neither Royal Mail nor Malta Post has control over this process. Since both customs agencies are government enforcement bodies, they do not provide official customer-facing portals. Additionally, this site has requested telephone numbers for UK customs, but no one has ever provided that information.

I have a Passport at the Royal Mail National Return Centre and cannot get hold of anyone. I need it returned to me asap. Is there any other way of contacting them other than waiting for nearly an hour on the phone? I urgently require the passport to be returned.

Submit a lost parcel claim.
This is by far the quickest way as the call centre will enter the details into the database, or if you fill out an online one in Royal Mail's complaint system, all the details will be sent to the NRC, who will hopefully match the details and return the item to you.
