Special delivery package delivered to PO then collected later by mistake.

Expensive mobile phone, sent to my local PO special delivery before 1pm. Item on tracking says delivered and signed for (by me apparently, how is a postie allowed to say I signed for it?)
The village shop in which the PO is located showed me the CCTV of it being delivered and it being collected later on as an outgoing parcel by mistake. What will now happen to this parcel? Will it go through the system at the local sorting/delivery office and be resent out? Realistically over an hour on hold to customer services for them to tell me what the tracking already says is not plausible. Any help appreciated, however it would be helpful if people who have experienced this and had an outcome posted or actually is familiar with the process as opposed to speculation. Thanks guys and gals.

No I gave it to Father Christmas, what a great reply that is.
You will now proceed to tell me it’s my fault that the RM and PO are not diligent enough to ensure my fully insured special delivery parcel is not where it should be safe and sound.

Oh wise one, please tell me how I was meant to receive it when I’m not in when it’s going to be delivered nor am I near a delivery office to collect when it’s open because of massively cut hours?

One routed it before its first attempt, so I would assume it’s in my name to the PO it’s however RM work it.

This is not an official Royal Mail site so your being so dismissive in your reply to an honest question (albeit worded bluntly) is probably not a good idea. If you want an official reply then please go to an official Royal Mail site, if you want insight or advice from people who work within Royal Mail then perhaps a more conciliatory approach would bear more fruit.

It sounds like there was an error at the local PO where you diverted it to. I'm assuming it had your residential address on it and so
the staff there handed it back to the collections driver. It should come back through the delivery system again. Whether the delivery system will highlight the delivery instruction to the local PO again I'm not sure.

If you're happy to post the tracking number on here we might be able to suggest what is happening to it.

The reason I asked that specific question is because Special Delivery Guaranteed items and international items which require a signature cannot be redelivered to another address including to a Post Office.

Since the PO already confirmed it was mistakenly sent out as an outgoing parcel, it’ll likely go through the system again. Best bet is to contact the local sorting office directly (if possible) and let them know-it might save time instead of waiting for it to be processed again.

It will still have to be delivered to her home address or collected from the DO, which she states she cannot do.

Special Deliveries can be redelivered/local collected to a PO with an in flt request.

Special Deliveries can be redelivered/local collected to a PO with an in flt request.

Don't think that applies if the PO branch is covered by a different DO from the one that covers her home address, as the MC will sort it to the address printed on the item.

Is the first half of the post code the same for both your home address and the PO branch?
