Where we are now is where the company wanted to be ten years ago if they had free reign. So, yes, the union is a time-delay circuit but we get there in the end. I guarantee you: where the company wants to be today will not require waiting a decade at the union's current effectiveness. Soon they'll run out of T&Cs they can keep throwing at the beast to satiate it. If only they'd throw an oxygen tank in the shark's maw.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑18 Mar 2025, 08:40If over half voted believe that the union have completely failed in negotiations in the past two decades.
How do they feel their current job would look like now if Royal Mail had free reign at making the changes/plans they would have liked to implement?
I presume exactly the same as it does now?
Or not?

The problem with that is if someone left and their new job was terrible - 99% of people wouldnt tell you that - they'd say its going great and glad they left so to not look like they made a mistake. Nobody wants people thinking they are stupid and worse off.Londonsburning wrote: ↑18 Mar 2025, 17:04This is the problem with half the people in this job, the truth is you probably won't "find things just as bad" unless you get a job at Amazon or Evri.
Every. Single. Postie. I know who has moved onto pastures new is loving it and say they wish they'd done it years ago. Make of that what you will.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

If every single one of them is saying that they are better off, then the first one to admit they'd made a mistake would look a bit of a plonker?Londonsburning wrote: ↑18 Mar 2025, 17:21The ex posties I know in the real world aren't that shallow tbh AccaAcca Dacca wrote: ↑18 Mar 2025, 17:17The problem with that is if someone left and their new job was terrible - 99% of people wouldnt tell you that - they'd say its going great and glad they left so to not look like they made a mistake. I wonder how many leave and say they've got a far better job then leave that job within 6 months to a year?

The poll doesn't lie. The CWU is shite.

Or come back to RM, and saying things like "Oh it didn't work out" or "the company went bust" etc.
No-one's ever going to admit that leaving was a mistake, and it's always going to be the "best thing I ever did".

They got a 97% strike vote to stop T&Cs being eroded then didn't strike let RM take the T&Cs and now want the T&Cs back

The CWU never thought Royal Mail would write off Black Friday and Xmas , once that happened it was all about the CWU getting out still in one piece.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Mar 2025, 16:05Nor did the CWU. When CWU top brass hold these conferences, how they look people in face is beyond me..those local reps sitting there listening must feel so fake, knowing they’ve literally become an extension of management.

Re: Who has faith in Walsh and the CWU????
A slight rephrase: once that happened it was all about RM getting the CWU(‘s influence and power) out in one piece. It achieved that, arguably, with the new-entrant workforce. It pits friends and colleagues either side of divide, legacy and new contract, against one another.chickenwittle wrote: ↑19 Mar 2025, 16:11The CWU never thought Royal Mail would write off Black Friday and Xmas , once that happened it was all about the CWU getting out still in one piece.
