Hello,
I've searched all over the internet to see if anyone else has experienced this issue but it seems to be just me. I found this forum so I thought I'd take a shot at asking if anyone would be able to to help.
I have 2 customers on eBay that have left me negative feedback claiming they have had to pay an fee for underpaid postage to receive their orders. These were sent on 2nd class in card backed envelopes that measured 16.1cm x 11.4cm and a depth of under 0.5cm, both weighing under 100g. All the criteria met for 2nd class letters. The labels were purchased through eBay's system. The buyers did not state how much they had to pay so I can't narrow down the type of charge.
I have never experienced this before for 2nd class letters, I've had plenty of orders before or since that were sent via the same method and same packaging with no issues. Strangely enough both of these orders were ordered and dispatched within a day of each other, albeit one of the buyers also claims the order took 12 days to get to them which is baffling.
I'm hoping someone might be able to make sense of it, because I certainly can't.
Thanks,
Chris

From long experience of measuring customer’s items with the official size guide: card backed envelopes have difficulty passing through the letter slot. Are you sure that the full envelopes came in at under 5mm thick?
If the items were treated as underpaid then yes, they might have taken longer to reach the destination, plus more time waiting for the recipient to pay the surcharge.
