Parcel stuck @ Manchester mailing centre

Post by Tango1 »

Good morning and happy new week.

I apologise in advance for asking for help here, as I realise this site is mainly for RM staff. But I'm so desperate and have even prayed my parcel gets located.

I'm a customer and have been waiting for my parcel since the 13th of Jan, I've been on the phone daily with customer service since the 16th, and up until now, I'm running blind on where my parcel could be, I don't even know if it's stuck somewhere.

Someone please help 🙏🙏🙏🙏 MZ281312275GB. Any help will be greatly appreciated. God bless.

My sincere apologies again.

What's the 1st half of the postcode where it's going? From that we can work out which MC it should be going to after Manchester MC

Your best bet is to contact the sender and get them to contact Royal Mail. If it was a purchase under the UK distance selling regulations, even though it's not their fault RM lost it, they should refund or send a replacement.

They then can claim from Royal Mail but how much they get back depends on what service they used.

Hi,

Yes I could easily claim back, but unfortunately the items are worth much more than the refund I might get. It's really a big parcel (20kg) and no way a Manchester or Peterborough mail centre staff could miss it. I've been told it's a needle in a haystack but I do believe in miracles, and hopefully a staff takes pity and just helps put it back to my local delivery office (which is PE11).

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully no more than 20Kg, as that is the absolute maximum weight allowed on this service. But given the maximum dimensions allowed, it would have to be something fairly dense to be that weight and within the size limit: are the contents books? Starting to wonder if this has been stopped because the wrong service was used for the size / weight.

Some firms can send up to 30Kg

Basically clothings, and not heavy at all but just bought the maximum allowable weight as it was posted in a bag.

I think this has has been packed in a way that takes it over the maximum size. 20kg is roughly a cabin suitcase worth of clothes, and the maximum allowed size for Tracked 24 is similar to the same suitcase. However, as it is packed in a bag, it is likely to be longer / wider but flatter than the maximum allowed, so in contravention of the rules.

https://www.royalmail.com/sending/uk/tracked-24

It is therefore likely to be at the bottom of the pile in terms of RM’s priorities, and waiting until someone has some spare time to sort it out.

It is the seller’s legal responsibility to do this chasing and the seller’s legal responsibility to refund you if it isn’t delivered. You should start a claim with them and, if they don’t make it right, start the chargeback process via your credit card provider.

Thank you.

I bought the 'send an item' from royal mail, to allow my relative post all my items/belongings in one bag. I've done the claim thing, but as I initially wrote, the items I bought were more than the claim amount, and they arrived safely to M23. It only got missing when mailing it from M23 to PE11.
