I suggested earlier in the deabte that it could be that rounds were bigger because of less people doing the work as the reason why volumes could appear up, but actually be down.
We have TMan telling us that all the machine figures show that traffic is down, whilst those on delivery telling us the weight, volume, and number of items is through the roof.
Some have indicated that mail is up by 25% - if so, have staffing levels risen by the same amount?
Where are the DSA figures taken, especially if they bypass our machines?
Could it be this mail is the reason why mech/APC figures are down, but delivery volumes up?

I quoted the figure of 25% and no staffing levels have not increased by 25% (they have gone up but not by a lot) but the OT have gone through the roofGeordie wrote:I suggested earlier in the deabte that it could be that rounds were bigger because of less people doing the work as the reason why volumes could appear up, but actually be down.

And it's probably true that the DSA figures are the cause of the disparity in processed figures and delivered figures but it still means that volumes are up.

Just about right. The term 'mail volume' is a poor one to describe what Night Tonic and Tman are claiming - which seems to be that RM's capacity to receive income/profit from mail is decreasing.
RM do at times like to use ambiguous terminology in their efforts to corral us into there way of thinking...
Doing the same amount of work for 50% less income as a result of DSA. Which one of these two :lfo :cfo negotiated that great deal. Even if they didn't negotiate the deal they must have approved it.

Heck, with whole threads on those who won't be able to cope going from weekly to monthly pay, economics are probably not your strong point and theres a sub-class that when they can't think of anything more original to say, descend to "Oh they must be Doms, or from some other world". No wonder we're all beaten. If we were not in such dire straights it might even be funny.

I guess that pretty much sums up this thread.axeman wrote:It's quite obvious that teaman and his buddy night tronic bat for t'other side as no amount of delivery posties can re-educate them that mail volumes are well up. lets just say we know better that them thats for sure
What can I say when faced with this level of logic?

Although i disagree to a certain extent with Nighty and Tman,i think it's unfair to call them managers.
If they were then it makes no difference anyway,we have DOM on here,he's a manager and does it matter whether he said it or them.
I dont want this to get to you're a screw malarky, guys if you are managers just say so if not lets move on.
Oh and if managers are on here and post as posties and vice a versa then if i find out they're out.
Here's a story for you,2 reps different offices but in the same building, one says letters are down, other says not over here mate.
It's a possible geographical thing and also the kind of housing/dwellers there are and what area you are.
Deffo at my place it aint dropping, but elsewhere........

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I don't think it's unfair in the slightest. RM managers are RM employees too, and, despite the childish comments like "screws" "DUMs" and the rest, are needed.POSTMAN wrote:Although i disagree to a certain extent with Nighty and Tman,i think it's unfair to call them managers.

However, I'm not one and never will be one, because apart from the fact that I studied long and hard to get my qualifications and I'm not going to waste those signing posties' time sheets (or whatever they are), and standing around looking bored stiff.
As NT has said though, to say "oh yeah, but they're managers etc etc.." as a form of disputing what's been said, is worrying though.
Sounds like we're all in the poop when staff disbelieve something just because management have said it. That means staff are likely to vote against anything management proposes, good or bad, merely because of it's source, and that's a good way to split the union, doing no-one any favours.

Mark White in the Another Postal Strike in Britain ? on the "across the road site " does make a point of abysmal communication , you have look at this absymal communication and the source and culture behind it , the DIMMs , DUMM's or whatever you want to call them are Leighton's mouthpieces, it's a regimented style and they have to toe big Al's line . .
I've no problem with cynicism , mistrust and skepticism with all the razzamatazz and the Amway technique that's mentioned in the article , that's not childish or necessarily the entrenched socialism that White continually harpens on about .

That HellMail site is pretty puffed up and self important, seeming to tout themselves as the mouth piece of international postal business - bleh!norbert wrote: Mark White in the Another Postal Strike in Britain ? on the "across the road site "...
In one current 'news' item Mark White puts his name to a piece entitled "Swiss Post Acquisition In Milton Keynes" which is cut and paste in it's entirety from the swisspost.ch website. Needless to say, it's just an extended promotional piece extolling the virtues of the companies involved...pretty lame really.
