Hi,
I ordered an item from USA to UK. It was.moving through the USA with DHL, in Monday it cleared customs in the UK. I've now got a tracking number for a random company yunexpess and a royal mail tracking number.
The yunexpress one just says information received and that was 7 days ago and no update since. The royal mail one just says they can't confirm the status and to try again tomorrow. It kept saying this for several days now.
It must be busy over Christmas but does anyone know what is likely going on with my parcel, if it cleared customs 3-4 days ago then shouldn't it be logged with yunexpress or royal mail by now? I'm a bit confused, I thought once it clears customs I would get an update shortly after.
Any ideas? Thanks all

Re: Yunexpress
Some companies ship mail to UK in containers then put it in the mail system over here. The clue to this is in the tracking number you were supplied: if the last two characters are ‘GB’ then that is what is happening to your parcel.
If the above is correct then the shipping company probably haven’t broken down the contents of the container yet.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes the royal mail tracking code ends in a GB. So you thunk the item is in a container with other items and hasn't been "broken down" yet, can you elaborate what that means please? And do you think it is likely I will receive before Christmas now, given it hasn't updated since Monday when it cleared customs? Thank youSnaggletooth wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 06:55Some companies ship mail to UK in containers then put it in the mail system over here. Re: Yunexpress
They split up the contents of the container into the individual orders, each of which enters RM's network separately, with its own tracking numbersatellite1 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 08:30Hi, thanks for the reply. Re: Yunexpress
Is it yunexpress that do that then? Or royal mail do that part? If it is royal mail and yunexpress just handle the transfer of the container then wouldn't the container be in their possession given it cleared customs 4 days ago? Last time this happened royal mail tracking at least said we are expecting it and yunexpress declared they had the item, now royal mail just says try gain tomorrow and yunexlress aren't even saying they have it. So that container is yet to be accepted by yunexpress. Even though it cleared customs 4 days ago now.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 08:43They split up the contents of the container into the individual orders, each of which enters RM's network separately, with its own tracking numbersatellite1 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 08:30Hi, thanks for the reply. And what about if an item in a container needs additional customs checks, will it be "separated from the pack" so to speak?
I'm learning a lot, very interesting so thank you for your time.

Yes, yuniexpress - or their agents break them down not Royal Mail.
Yes, customs are an enforcement agency so they can do what they want with regard to whole containers, down to the individual items.

Re: Yunexpress
Thanks, would you say 4 days without any tracking update (from either RM or Yun) after clearing customs is usual at this time of year, and not anything to worry about?TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 09:34Yes, yuniexpress - or their agents break them down not Royal Mail.

Normally I've had items clear customs and then be delivered a couple of days later.
Thanks so much

No, this time of year is always the busiest—delays are inevitable. However, delays are less than last year, when this site was inundated and delays were weeks long.satellite1 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 09:40Thanks, would you say 4 days without any tracking update (from either RM or Yun) after clearing customs is usual at this time of year, and not anything to worry about?TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024, 09:34Yes, yuniexpress - or their agents break them down not Royal Mail.

As soon as Royal Mail scans it on receipt, it won't take long.

Re: Yunexpress
The “we’re expecting it” message on RM tracking in this context means that Yun Express have purchased the service from RM. It does not mean that the package has been handed over. Until Yun Express hand this over to RM, nothing that happens is in RM’s control or RM’s responsibility.
