Guys, what is the correct proceedure for undelivered mail?
You tell your manager that today you dont expect to complete the round as the volumes are higher can he instruct you to ,cut off an amount of your round, pouch off the rest, return it to the DOFF,post it back in a mail box, return it to your frame the next day?
Which of these proceedures is THE correct proceedure and the official take on this and avoiding wilful delay?

If you are unable to complete you delivery that day then you should tell your manager at the earliest possible time, it'll then be up to them to get whatever you can't do delivered but if you take it out you then should deliver it. Any unable to complete or cut offs should be left in the office for the manager to deal with not taken out with you and then put back into the system (that would lead to a charge of wilful delay).

It doesn't happen in my DO but you'd never know which rules are used up and down the country.discoinferno wrote:Ok what if a manager said to me if you cant complete lets us know finish ten minutes early for travel and whatever you have left you can return it to the DOFF , can he offer thsis as a proceedure?...heard of that one is it common?...disgruntledpostie1 wrote:If you are unable to complete you delivery that day then you should tell your manager at the earliest possible time, it'll then be up to them to get whatever you can't do delivered but if you take it out you then should deliver it. We had exactly the same in another service only with irregularities -they worked on the basis of You can't prove that you intended to do whatever so therefore you are guilty as charged -it's arrogant , presumptuous and many other adjectives but there was plenty of s****hawks looking for any little thing , basically the get thrown in the glasshouse for having a dirty cap badge military mentality .
Any little technicality , any chance to move the goalposts , they wanted a culture of fear , a sweetheart union to soften people up for privatization , RM's system sounds equally as vicious so watch out boys and give the b**tards nowt , best way to frustrate these idiots in charge .
They're not proper managers , that's not management it's glorified supervisors with no people skills , discretion , perspective or proportion following diktats .

MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

Yes - if the manager has said this then it is ok. However, it is best to advise the manager that you wont complete (don't use term cut off at work they don't like it), before you leave the office and always, always have a witness just in case the "Forget". Also if instructed to bring it back to the DO then ensure that you pass it back into the hands of a responsible person ie the Managers.

I would inform the manager, if he tells me to attempt and to bring mail back, then I would demand that he writes it down in front of the union rep and sign it. I have heard rumours that a manager has set up a few postmans and that an ex temp lino has decided to write a 5 page statement regarding it. Whether this is true or not I have no idea. But DON"T BE FORCE BY THEM TO DO THE JOB ANY OTHER WAY BUT BY THE BOOK. Sorry for the caps but its a point we should all take in

In our office you're generally told to take all of it out with you, and then see a manager with what you couldn't deliver when you get back, that OK, if any of the managers are still there. Its 50/50 on whether the stuff bought back will be delivered, if not then, you are instructed to start from where you cut off the day before.
This is another thing among many, that the CWU should sort out and give us solid rules, so every office works the same way, since coming on RMC I can't get over how many different ways there are for doing the same job, and how many different stories you get told by DOMs.

Your right "trythat" and its set to become even worse with local agreements seemingly being the way that the CWU want to go, instead of Cast Iron national rules, agreements and guidelines.trythat wrote:This is another thing among many, that the CWU should sort out and give us solid rules, so every office works the same way, since coming on RMC I can't get over how many different ways there are for doing the same job, and how many different stories you get told by DOMs.
