Jobs will go and it’s a real shame that redundancy terms went from 2 years pay to 9 months.
That's the very reason why I suspect any uptake on VR, especially given the numbers of job losses that USO reform will cause in delivery, to be very low.
You must work in a different DO to me, I sense their be a long queue for VR in my DO.
With 9 months pay?

The last VR exercise in both our office and neighbouring ones went quite far down the list before getting any takers.

Our DO had several desperate to leave although they've virtually all now left anyway. I've no idea how many would still take VR as most are "youngsters" who'll need to get another job if they leave RM.

As I've seen said elsewhere why would the company increase VR terms when people are happy to leave on the current terms?

2025 I predict many job losses ,or rm wanting volunteers for redundancy, if the union secure 12 months I'm in , told my manager today count me in if 12 months money .nearly 30 years in this job ,never been so p###ed off with it ,was going to go in 2 and a bit years when 55 , but honestly think I can't last that long , honestly think I'd be happier working in a fish factory on just over a £1 less an hour than I would be working for this 💩 show .
ditto mate. 😏

As it stands, nobody has taken VR under the current terms yet. There is a difference between saying you would take it and actually taking it.

The terms are now worse than they were at the last VR consultation which people took up with the 6k sweetener thrown in too.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

As they did last time around, make the job even more unbearable and many will leave without any VR pay - like the 15 thousand before. Our d/o is understaffed so expect VR will not be offered. Obviously cost cutting a priority now, stuff the workers and the public. Glad I'm getting old and not just starting - wouldn't do my 32 years again in this place.

Nobody is doing a 32 year service at RM now, that has been put well and truly to bed. We were lucky, if you can call it that.

As has already been said people will say they will go but when shove comes to push very few do.
Very true. I know people who turned down 2 years VR. I also know people who say they have had enough and are leaving for over 30 years.

2 years VR was over 10 years ago. I suspect if they have another round of VRs it will be massively oversubscribed. The last time a few years ago they did their so called 'preference exercise' there was a lot at my DO who applied for VR.

Not many oldies left at our office and the ones we have are well past retirement age and will probably work until they drop.

probably the difference between living in a city and not then. The majority of OPGs in my DO are over 40, zero over 65 and the only under 30s who stay, have an older relative here also.

The thing is everyone gives it large concerning VR. I remember the last preference exercise where so many were openly boasting that they’d put in for it. Yet looking at the ones giving it the big un were the ones with young families & partners only working P/T or in minimum wage jobs. It’s one thing saying you’re gonna take redundancy & completely another actually accepting it especially in today’s world where everything is so expensive. I’m hearing the same rumblings now with people saying “if they offer me £15,000 I’m off” etc etc. It’s one thing giving it the big un in front of the lads at work but once they get home & the missus has put her foot down & drummed some realism into their heads then it’ll be out with all the usual excuses as to why they’re no longer taking the peanuts on offer.

You do realise it wasn't a so called 'preference exercise' until they got the results in, and then absolutely shat the bed because they had such a massive amount of OPGs applying right?
