Item has left our International Processing Centre. Item is being prepared for re-export in order to return it to the sender

Post by timmyd999 »

I have received this message 3 weeks after my parcel (a book) from the US arrived in the UK. My tracking number is LS444286824CH.

When I spoke to Royal Mail they said it wasn't in their system and therefore they didn't have any control over the parcel.

Does anyone know how to contact customs to try and pay any duty on the book so it is not returned to the US?

This parcel was posted from Switzerland, not the USA, see the letters 'CH' at the end of the tracking number.

Royal Mail collect duty on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs, so it is RM you need to speak to, if anyone.

Why do you think that duty needs to be paid?

According to RM's tracking, this parcel arrived at Stoke Newington Delivery Office this morning. So assuming that is the DO for where you live, I think the message in the tite of the thread was a mis-scan.
