Parcel from China gone missing

Ordered items from a uk company but they seem to be being delivered from China.

They were ordered on 13th August and were to be delivered by 23rd August.

I only received a Royal Mail tracking number from the seller on 29th August and the tracking status has been at “we are expecting it” ever since.

Is there anyway of finding out where this parcel is?

It's probably being shipped to the UK in a container along with many other orders. Once the container reaches a warehouse in the UK, the contents get split up into individual orders, which only then enter RM's system.

We are expecting it = not handed over to Royal Mail yet.

How could I find out if it is held in customs? Bearing in mind the tracker supplied by seller says it has already cleared customs some 7 days ago?

Some of the companies that use this method take an age to break down the container and send the stuff on. I wouldn’t be surprised if it still turns up.

It is the seller’s responsibility to do this kind of chasing.

Getting nowhere with them - they don’t want to know unfortunately

It is the seller’s legal responsibility to get them to you in the time contracted. If they don’t do that, apply for a refund via your card provider.

Not forgetting that when buying from overseas you have next to no consumer rights - a company in China aren't bound by UK distance selling rules, let alone care about chasing up a delivery.

Hi it is definitely a UK company - I wrongfully assumed goods weee coming from UK also - lesson learned to check company out before ordering from now on
