What happened to my parcel

Post by JulieDnumber3 »

I am waiting for my parcel being returned from the USA, the address wasn’t correct so USPS were not able to deliver (my fault, missed part of address) I have tracked the parcel all the way to Utah, USA and back again, there didn’t seem to be any issues and the tracking was showing every step until August 24th when the tracking update said “your item departed a transfer airport in Heathrow UK, the item is currently in transit to the destination”. Since then there has been no information or update. I rang Royal Mail but they couldn’t offer any more information. Since we are on day 7 with no more updates, am getting concerned. Could the item be stuck at customs? Hopefully someone can help.

Yep, probably stuck in customs. USPS are probably the only foreign postal service who scan every item before handing them over to UK customs

Thank you for your reply, just seems a long time to be stuck there, but then I don’t know what the norm is, hopefully it will arrive soon.

In an ideal scenario, if there are no customs delays, your package sails through seamlessly in a single shift and lands on your doorstep just 2 to 3 days later.

However, if customs decides to take a closer look—whether due to specific reasons or simply as part of one of their random checks—then you might find yourself in a waiting game. Unfortunately, Royal Mail has no influence over customs, as they operate as an enforcement agency. That means the clock is firmly in their control, and the wait could stretch on for as long as they deem necessary so its entirely in their hands how long it takes.
