Sent via Special Delivery, signature photo missing, being abused by scammer

Hi all,

Very frustrated customer here.
Long story short, sent an item on 23rd May 2024 with special delivery, which was marked as delivered and signed on the Royal Mail website. It is a high valued item sold on ebay.

Sadly the buyer, which I believe is a scammer claimed that the item was not received. Royal Mail website like I said showed it as delivered and signed, but the signature photo is missing, the box says "The image is not yet available or may have been removed." Quite obvious the scammer is abusing this.

Ebay seems to be siding with the scammy buyer, saying that I have no such signature photo.

Really don't know what to do, super frustrated.

Opened a request with RM already, but in this case, do you know if there is indeed a chance that there is photo? or did RM mess up big time and I have to suffer a loss of over 1000 £ due to this?

RM’s website has a delivery location, is that approximately correct for the address you put on the parcel?

yes it is. but it remains that the signature photo is missing on their website, which is costing me big time....

I can’t see any option but to try and claim from RM, using the addressee’s claim of non-receipt as supporting evidence.

ebay asks for the signature photo, which the postie should have got, but somehow they are not showing it on the website...

As the photo is with the door closed, I'm wondering if the postie just signed for it and posted it. That could be why the recipient is claiming they didn't get it. But something would have had to have been input on the signature screen of the pda.

Tell ebay to do one. Seriously. You've got proof it was delivered. The pic is irrelevant. They never said they need the picture. It's proof of delivery and the tracking you've got says they delivered so it's enough. Phone eBay and talk to someone with common sense.

If they have refunded the scammer take ebay to the small claims court. The picture being needed is ridiculous. RM's equipment might malfunction and they might not show the picture. As long as it's scanned as delivered that's all that should matter to Ebay. This is making me want to never use Ebay again even more.
