Package bouncing between delivery offices

Post by LostMailer_24 »

Hello everyone,

I have a package which has the correct street address, but the postcode is incorrect (OX4 postcode instead of OX1 postcode). For this reason, the package keeps getting sent to the OX4 delivery office and then sent back to Swindon for resorting, where it then goes back to the OX4 office and the cycle starts again. This has happened 5 times now - I'm unsure what to do.

Royal Mail customer service told me that this is due to automatic sorting. The representative told me that the package should go into manual sorting "within a few days" when I called at around the third time that the package. It doesn't seem like it has made it into manual sorting within a few days from my call, as each package sorting and missorting cycle seems to take a full week.

Do you have recommendations for what I should do?

Unless the DO that covers OX4 actually cross out the 2D barcode it'll keep bouncing between the 2 DOs. The sorting machine will be sorting it based on the address that it reads from the 2D barcode

Thank you for your response! In that case, do you think I should go down to the OX4 DO and let them know about my package?

No it won't help get it to the correct one as they get 1000s of parcels a day, and the returns go back quite quickly.. Hopefully someone at OX1 will cross out the QR code and amend the postcode. However, it would be easier if the MCs manually sorted the rejects rather than putting them back through the machines, especially when they were clearly, and officially labelled like when I worked at RM only 1 month ago.

So did it get delivered in the end if yes can you please tell me if you might have done something to help
Please refrain from posting the same question or similar questions in multiple threads. Most of the people you are asking may not be regular visitors, so it is unlikely they will respond.

If you have a specific issue where we can offer insight or advice, please start a new thread. This approach is less disruptive and allows for a more focused discussion on your issue.
