Should be putting them all into the local DOs for some "work experience" sooner the better

a dozen a day. ?? aye rightSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 10:06In DOs you're probably dealing with around a dozen per day (small packets and small Tracked). In MCs we have to deal with at least 100 of them every day. Think I saw one being used for the foreign specials one day.

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
Maybe in yours. we would, at a rough guess, get, outside of specials, get 90% white yorks, 5% basic yorks and 5% shrouds, with maybe 1% on occasion being replaced with those metal raiseable floor solid yorks from time to time. The white yorks such s**t and were a bad idea form inception.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 10:06In DOs you're probably dealing with around a dozen per day (small packets and small Tracked). They are effing useless. It's not just when they arrive... Putting them out for collection is a total ball ache.

To put it simply, we stoop to accomodate a machine. What a future we live in.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 15:21They got brought in to enable much better loading of mail into the machines in the superhubs and any PSM MCs. With the old red sleeves, mail can get stuck at the bottom.
The machine stops.

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
This morning our section got 15 white yorks and 3 standard, and a whole bunch of thin packets that had slid out of the white ones en route and required people to remove them from the lorry separately. Other sections got a better mix. We've never seen the alleged shovels

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
It's hardly the biggest job to just check each red sleeve to make sure there's nothing stuck in the bottom before it's stored away? How much extra work has been created by using the while sleeves, it seems a sledgehammer to crack a nut type decision. Using snow shovels is a complete joke/non start in a DO.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 15:21They got brought in to enable much better loading of mail into the machines in the superhubs and any PSM MCs. Re: white yorks . sorting packets
Given the automation in the superhubs it's possible that a sleeve once tipped by the machine gets moved by the machine into a slot to be filled up. RM wanted sleeves where 100% of the mail comes out of it first time without any manual interventionTopperGas wrote: ↑02 Apr 2024, 10:51It's hardly the biggest job to just check each red sleeve to make sure there's nothing stuck in the bottom before it's stored away? Re: white yorks . sorting packets
Then none of you should be emptying white correx sleeves from 1/3rd fill depth.
If you are, then you are working outside the SSOW and if you injure your backs (as being complained about) then you will probably get conducted, not sick pay & sympathy.
Demand the slider tools, they have to supply them to you.
And when nesting and moving these white correx sleeves, strap in 3"s and push from the rear using the yellow handles.
Do not grab 3 at a time from the tops a push them backwards with your shoulders jacked up, that is another no no.
If you want a copy of the SSOW for these sleeves it is on here, i will post it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: white yorks . sorting packets
The job I do now means that I am seeing RM from the customer's side.
We use Yorks on a daily basis and there isn't a single advantage to the white sided ones compared to the original ones. The white ones hold 10% fewer of the boxes we use, they stack in 3s instead of 5s so take up more warehouse space. They often have pieces broken off which has caused sharp plastics edges. Being ex-RM colleagues ask me why the change was made, and I shrug my shoulders.
