There is no delivery without a signature for special deliveries. They have already admitted to signing for it. You don’t accidentally sign for something fraudulently.DaveF14 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 15:52Th special will be tracked to that delivery point, with the GPS tracking. The postman can be using delivery without signature, the photo could be obscured without noticing. If hes got a clean record and good at the job, nothing to worry about. Especially if its just one item. Royal Mail should be sacking the snowflakes who are off sick most weeks instead of the guy that's misplaced one special.

You also don't accidentally work overtime under duress because of your employer. Deprecated (believe old Charles has opted for just signed for?), and potential for a misunderstanding if someone really pushed, the Queens 'telegrams' style centenary and long marriage wedding cards were both special and to be signed for by the postie if the occupant was not present and the address wasn't clearly dilapidated.LouBarlow wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 19:07There is no delivery without a signature for special deliveries. Also if they got missorted, the office that they were missorted to had to ring up a special number at the palace to explain what had happened to themR5001 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 21:33Deprecated (believe old Charles has opted for just signed for?), and potential for a misunderstanding if someone really pushed, the Queens 'telegrams' style centenary and long marriage wedding cards were both special and to be signed for by the postie if the occupant was not present and the address wasn't clearly dilapidated.LouBarlow wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 19:07There is no delivery without a signature for special deliveries. Two things I will not do for anyone
Sign for a special
Leave item in recycling bin. Even if they ask

I wouldn’t sign for anything. Recorded included. We have people being conduct coded for doing it.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2024, 08:58Two things I will not do for anyone

We were told last week in a meeting that we must not dws anything. So no signing - just bring them back. You can’t get into trouble for that- well, not yet anyway.

I had a 60th wedding anniversary one from BH the other day, just signed for, no chit on it that said 'post it anyway' (paraphrasing) like theyR5001 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 21:33Deprecated (believe old Charles has opted for just signed for?), and potential for a misunderstanding if someone really pushed, the Queens 'telegrams' style centenary and long marriage wedding cards were both special and to be signed for by the postie if the occupant was not present and the address wasn't clearly dilapidated.LouBarlow wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 19:07There is no delivery without a signature for special deliveries. Good luck with your retirement I'm finally going in August this year after one postponement, started in 1976 ! All the best1617mel wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 09:29We always had an agreement ,the international specials some after scanning don't even need a signature, so treated like a tracked, but RM specials never deviated from the fact that they never get passed on unless a signature was had, we all know you could be carrying a £1000 worth of holiday money etc.
On another note this is my final day with RM, IDS. so I'm retiring ,66 next birthday .enjoyed the craic on these forums, some of you guys would make stand up! Thanks to the administrator, true blue , Robert T for all his fantastic pension advice ,and Woodie Guthrie who in my opinion had very fair and unbiased comments .,and all unmentioned people for the great knowledge . Hope in the future the workforce, get some peace.

You can (and really should) DWS an item where the recipient is unable to provide a signature due to disability. That's what the DWS procedure is for.

Yes, I have three people who live on my walk who I routinely sign for because asking them to sign would cause them supreme difficulty.

Re: Gross Misconduct
What used to happen during Covid - signing and posting stuff - is not applicable anymore. As frustrating as it is that we now have Tracked items that come through the locker as Specials and Tracked items that require a signature even when a safe place has been specified; its always best to just do that and not cut corners however tempting it might be.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
