Why the hell isn't the software updated to not allow one address to have more than 25 on any given day and certain weights should not be taken by postmen with no apparatus ,done my back the other day lifting a massive heavy box from a safeplace down the bottom of some steps ,make them take it to a post office , OH YEAH YOU GOT RID OF ALL THEM and YOUR SOFTWARE COMPANY ARE INCOMPETENT, what an absolute useless company Royal Mail are ,me if i have a lot of collections now i just leave an extra loop full of nhs letters .

If they can’t amend the automated message sent to customers giving them a specific time window of a couple of hours in the morning when they can expect a tracked to be delivered, yes it’s just a guide time but customers don’t read it like that, then it will take them until the software is obsolete to amend collections.guardianangel wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 18:10Why the hell isn't the software updated to not allow one address to have more than 25 on any given day and certain weights should not be taken by postmen with no apparatus ,done my back the other day lifting a massive heavy box from a safeplace down the bottom of some steps ,make them take it to a post office , OH YEAH YOU GOT RID OF ALL THEM and YOUR SOFTWARE COMPANY ARE INCOMPETENT, what an absolute useless company Royal Mail are ,me if i have a lot of collections now i just leave an extra loop full of nhs letters .
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

How are you so well versed about the ins and outs of the nationwide Royal Mail workings, when you have only been with the outfit for such a short time?Smoothbackground wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 11:15I wondered the same thing re sending a van out to do the collections. Perhaps as the collection numbers increase they will have no choice but to do so.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 10:28I wonder what the threshold would be for it to be financially viable to send a van out to do the collections instead of the individual walks. How often do they miss the final run to the local MC?
Most Saturdays we have stuff that misses the final MC run and doesn’t go off until Sunday or Monday, though during the week it is very rare.

They probably know more than an ex postie who couldn’t wait to leave the job, yet spends every waking minute obsessing over the job they couldn’t wait to leave and the people still doing it. It is a wonder you even have any time to perform your new employment given you spend every waking minute on here or thinking about the place.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 18:55How are you so well versed about the ins and outs of the nationwide Royal Mail workings, when you have only been with the outfit for such a short time?Smoothbackground wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 11:15I wondered the same thing re sending a van out to do the collections. Why do you obsessively log in/post on here? Literally every 5/6 hours daily and usually posting defensive nonsense. Why?LouBarlow wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 19:21They probably know more than an ex postie who couldn’t wait to leave the job, yet spends every waking minute obsessing over the job they couldn’t wait to leave and the people still doing it. Do us all a favour.
Either get a room or just stop now.
Either get a room or just stop now.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Because I am a postie posting on a forum discussing the job of being a postie. And you? Seriously now, tell me what you are doing now and I will find a forum for you, dedicated to your new job.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 19:30Why do you obsessively log in/post on here? It won't happen yet as our collections are FREE
When Royal Mail actually start charging for this service and collections start being missed then management will start asking us to prioritise in this order - Specials, Tracked items, Postbox collections and Collections from the public, Standard Parcels and letters
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

You can't be the only one to notice what's going on here?
I've spent many years browsing this place as a delivery postie, it's easy to lie on an anonymous forum. Especially if you are trying to deceive people.

I don't think they'll ever start charging for this service, there hasn't been a charge for a few years now. It's not being used by the majority of Royal Mail customers - it's mainly the same old few usual suspects. And I think Royal Mail are making quite a bit of money from the companies paying for a returns service. I'm sure charging a fee would put off a lot of the small number of people using the service and Royal Mail might end up losing more business to Post Office, who sell postal services for other couriers now, not just Royal Mail.postslippete wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 19:55Smoothbackground wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 11:15

Why would they charge for it? They make more money from us picking it up than they would if the customer took it to a post office.

No you are right. We don't charge the public for a collection because it is something that we offer businesses for delivering their parcels using Royal Mail in the first place as well. That might explain why the parcels that our competitors used to deliver are now also being delivered by us.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
