Hi! I live in the Channel Islands, and government recently removed our mail plane, so everything now goes by boat. People here are noticing hugely varied posting times - eg a birthday card to some parts of the UK are taking weeks to be delivered, but all my post to and from Fife in Eastern Scotland is so far a happy 2-3 days (when we had the plane it was an amazing next day delivery which always amazed me). Someone told me they just posted a letter to the West of Scotland and it took 2 weeks. Can anyone explain to me what happens to the postal routing of items once they arrive in the UK on the boat and why delivery varies so widely? Is there a map of the main sorting offices or something I could look at? Thanks!
