missing parcel

Post by holliegroux87 »

Hi
I had a parcel sent from China which has had tracking information from the start of shipping. I have been keeping my eye on it and the other day noticed it said delivered (it wasn't as I was at work) I know Royal Mail never leave my parcels outside my door or usually with a neighbour if I'm not in they take it back to the depot and I get a card to say so. I contacted the seller and he sent me all info including tracking number and when I put it in to Royal Mail it said:

Attempted delivery at 10:52
Delivered 10:55

After a long wait I got through to Royal mail helpline and the lady said it seemed dodgy that the seller had used Tracked return 48 instead of Tracked 48 but she would look into it and send me an email, I never received the email and the next morning I had a knock on the door from the postman who said 'he vaguely remembers it and I wasn't in so he gave it to my neighbour who offered to take it'
I wasn't left a calling card which I told him but said I would speak to my neighbour who I had already asked when it first happened cause they always take parcels for me. When I knocked again he reassured me he hadn't taken anything from the postman for me.

There was no calling card left, the tracking doesn't say left with neighbour, there is no photo to prove delivery?? Is that normal with tracked return 48?
The postman also told me the tracking system said his manager told him it looked like it had been delivered to a road behind my house?

I've now esculated it but the man on the phone said If the postman says he gave it to a neighbour that's enough proof??? I always get a photo attached to any tracked item so why nothing with this one and why no calling card etc???

Hey Hollie, I don't think returns have a photo service, however when the post-person scanned the item it pinpoints a GPS location - so you should see this information attached to the reference number (ie your road or the road behind your house). :cuppa
