I am expecting 2 different parcels , both of which were to be delivered yesterday ( Friday 1st dec ) according to the tracking.
It's Saturday now, and they both didn't arrive, and the tracking now shows the following for each of the parcels:
Parcel 1:
Saturday 02 December 2023 12:08 Item Received Scottish Parcel Hub
Friday 01 December 2023 22:58 Item Retention Belfast South and Central DO
08:08 Due to be delivered today by Belfast South and Central DO
03:51 Item Received Northern Ireland MC
Thursday 30 November 2023 20:10 Sender has despatched item
Wednesday 29 November 2023 09:02 Item Received Tyneside MC
Parcel 2:
Saturday 02 December 2023 11:56 Item Received Northern Ireland MC
Friday 01 December 2023 08:09 Due to be delivered today by Belfast South and Central DO
03:08 Item Received Northern Ireland MC

18:06 Sender has despatched item
Although both parcels made it to my local Delivery office , both seem to have left the local office, with Parcel 1 being sent to Scotland for some inexplicable reason, and the second parcel having been returned to the NI Mail Centre ??
Can anyone explain this strange behaviour?

To be frank no I am afraid you are probably best contacting an official Royal Mail customer service site as they will have access to more details on the tracking system than we have here.
Its very strange that both got scanned as out for delivery but did not actually get delivered, most posties do that scan at their frames or as they load the vans.
