Hardly been mentioned in our office & we are quite a large one who fail mail daily so no chance of getting it. But got to disagree with the we have all jumped on board with this incentive.any posty worth there salt knew it would be impossible to get.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2023, 18:47Judging by the reactions on here RM have got exactly what they wanted, us fighting against each other with people blaming everyone and anyone except the people who should really be getting it in the neck.... RM.
You all must realise that now that we have all jumped on board with this incentive, we will be the scapegoats if we fail to deliver xmas.
"We did all we could and even offered them £500 to go above and beyond" will be the companies excuse as they brand us lazy and overpaid.
£25 a week god we are easily bought.

Our office hasn't "jumped on board" with it.
As soon as it was announced we knew it meant no Christmas bonus. Simple as that.

I didn't mean i have jumped on board, been around long enough to know when i am being conned, i mean my office have and they are quoting numbers given by the dom/com whatever you call them so that they believe they will be getting their £25 for that week.derekm wrote: ↑24 Nov 2023, 16:04Hardly been mentioned in our office & we are quite a large one who fail mail daily so no chance of getting it. Been asked about my thoughts on it by the rest of them, "Couldn't give a feck, £25 never rared me" is my reply.
If RM are at this stage in trying to deliver xmas we really are fecked in general, obviously they are really struggling to recruit.
Throwing money at a problem doesn't always work.

What a joke, so what if you want to complete and your partner doesn’t and what if half the office cuts off what about those that don’t!? It’s all wrong it should be individual not just a blanket office by office or else it’s peer pressure, typical Royal Mail not actually making it achievable for most days

I think it would have been a good idea to offer an enhanced overtime rate for "peak" then if you wanted or were able to extend you would get paid a bit more for the extra effort, doing it on an individual basis introduces it's own element of unfairness, our hct piss takers easily complete every day plus believe it or not due to our lazy revision done by poor management we've still got a couple of "easy" duties that also complete whilst others are only doing the mail alternate days.matthew68 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2023, 21:08What a joke, so what if you want to complete and your partner doesn’t and what if half the office cuts off what about those that don’t!? This is the company that created a situation where kids didn`t get their Christmas presents in time last year so that they could break the strike. I lost a lot of money. I won`t forget. Nor should you.

That situation was one entirely of the CWU’s making, no? As I recall it, RM spent millions on agency staff to mitigate the inconvenience to Joe Public, with agency drivers like myself earning upwards of £24 per hour to deliver a small proportion of the massive backlog. This is the company that created a situation where kids didn`t get their Christmas presents in time last year

Did I say previously that I crossed a picket line? I don’t recall saying that I had. (In the interests of full and frank disclosure, I do confess that I did cross the picket line though
). But they paid that rate from the second week of December onwards.

Re: RMCtv : The 'They have only gone and got an extra 25 squid bonus' thread
Our office made the targets last week but TBH it was really light for a November week and no one went out of there way to achieve it. Haven't seen traffic that light for a good few years.
This week the packets have started to pick up and a load of people have gone off sick because they can't use annual leave. So lots of walks haven't gone out which means this weeks bonus has failed. Next week we'll be playing catch up so another failed week I expect.
I'd imagine the £25 for the one local target we met last week will be all we get. Which is more than I thought we'd get!
But RM has achieved it's purpose. Now it can tell the press it's our fault the targets haven't been met because they put incentives in place and we didn't work hard enough. They will no doubt fail to mention that the targets are pretty much unachievable for most offices and impossible on a national level!
Congratulations to RM management for yet again passing the blame onto something else other than their own greed and incompetence!

It's unfair to entirely blame the Union for this when the other party involved (Royal Mail) stonewalled them and refused to negotiate. The Union even offered RM an olive branch with a period of calm to get Xmas out of the way but the company refused and ploughed on ahead by introducing new contracts on less pay, terms and conditions. They then proceeded with revisions that have f**ed up many delivery offices. There was a lot of anger amongst postal workers over the fact that we made the company over £700 million profit due to the pandemic and the CEO gave away most of that to shareholders. Then within a month he was telling us that we were losing a million pounds a day?
I don't really want to revisit old ground here but the deal was a tad better than what RM originally wanted - compulsory Sunday working, commit to deliver etc etc. I appreciate some people don't mind working weekends like yourself but there was also the issue regarding the cost of living as well and at least we got something of a pay rise in the deal - something which has once again reared its ugly head at Amazon.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
