New starter overtime rate kicks in at 40 hours afaik.
So that's 15 quid an hour = 10 after tax and NI for delivering mail in the dark and cold after you've already done an 8 hour day.
Good luck with that.
Sure there's people who need the money and might do it, but come on that's piss poor for the work and extra effort.

I know they plead poverty when it suits them. What I meant was they're banking on a majority of offices failing to make the grade so they can benefit from the intensified labour without having to pay out the prize money. They could cut right through the nebulosity of this incentive scheme and put that money up front on an OT rate as understood elsewhere (time and a half or double time) and hiring people on contracts that make them want to stay in the job so we're not constantly rolling over duties. Those would be incentives. This is cheaply cynical.
The machine stops.

Yes they have millions. But you're quite right, the bonus that they have set for us seems like a con, especially in our office where those targets are unachievable unless they either double the workforce or cheat the figuresMr Rush wrote: ↑15 Nov 2023, 20:40
If I thought for a moment there was actually any chance of it I'd be more inclined to believe the numbers would be falsified in the other direction. 'Sorry, team, we fell 1% short'. The ComDom dilemma this peak is to fudge the numbers just enough to look like the situation has improved without boosting them across the finish line that they commit fraud on your behalf.
And the money doesn't exist. Do you think they have millions set aside to cover even half the country getting a payout? If they did they could just offer a decent OT rate.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Anyone had an update on their unit's trajectory toward getting this? If what I saw coming out the printer is the daily cleared DPs for our office then it's completely made up.
The machine stops.

Nope. Although I have heard of one manager at our office who threatened to finish an agency worker unless they went back out again and did more overtime.....

The cwu had jack to do do with this deal ffsMickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑20 Oct 2023, 13:16If the bonus is based on quality and clearing the office over a number of days it puts those offices in trouble due to staffing issues and failed revisions in a position where they may not receive the bonus for no fault of their own.
They may in fact be working harder than those at offices that haven't had revisions forced through and are fully staffed or have a surplus.
Doesn't seem wholly fair to me but at the same time I welcome an extra payment and appreciate the union for negotiating one.
Also, I hope this will not stop offices putting on pressure overtime when needed to get the work cleared.
Otherwise it's not as good as it seems.
