Tracking help please

Hi,
Hoping I can get some guidance from anyone that knows as I’ve been reading different things.
I’ve added the tracking from parcelapp.

From what I’ve read, the processed through facility means it cleared customs and was then handed over to RM at Langley?
RM’s tracking is stuck on “we’ve got it” and they’re delivering it today..but it’s been stuck like that until the 11th so I’m wondering if there’s a glitch in the system maybe or is it just delays at langley hwdc? Will add a screenshot of that too.
Is Langley hwdc customs again or is it RM..the scans on parcelapp are usps but then switch to RM.
I’m so confused!

Well, in my past experience, once I see that message either in ParcelsApp or the RoyalMail Tracking page, the item usually rapidly moves to my local delivery office within a few hours, but I have been waiting for parcels that have been delayed since 11 October as well.

My guesses are:

- perhaps there's a backlog and lots of items have moved from customs into RM Langley, but I can't imagine mail hanging around for that length of time.

- perhaps it was checked by customs and they have added a charge, and RM are taking a long time to send out the card and update the tracking to show a customs charge has been raised?

This is based on my assumption that most items only show as arrived at HWDC once they have cleared customs. From what others have said here, and my own experience, USPS provide that useful scan to show it's arrived in the UK, but once it has been processed through a facility has usually flagged to me that it has been processed and will out for delivery soon.

Is the item destined for Northern Ireland or staying within Great Britain?

I have the same experience, once it says the “processed through facility” it’s here within the next day or so.
I’m wondering if it’s been taken back to customs maybe as a random batch…but surely if that was the case then RM would never have had scanned it? Not even sure if that’s a thing! I’d guess that if it’s a random batch then it would just sit in customs until they’ve been looked at rather that clearing through then taken back?
I did think of a backlog, with the weather switching, I’m sure lots are having to be off poorly right now as there’s a lot going round at this time of year.

Usually on the tracking the “departed Heathrow airport” means it’s landed and passed to customs (usps scan) and then the “processed through facility” means cleared customs and handed to RM.

It’s coming to NW England. With you waiting a similar timeframe I’m thinking possibly a backlog then if you’ve got similar tracking also?

Oh good point about possible staff illness - it's not being widely talked about, but lots of people are off work at the moment everywhere with respiratory illnesses - RM could be very short staffed.

Anyway, you've given me optimism, as we both have the same tracking message - maybe our mail will start moving through the system at the same time. I also had a second item move to this status today, but it has not moved on from HWDC, so that also seems to be just sitting there as well.

I’m speculating of course but it would make sense with the time of year as there’s a few people off poorly at the moment. That plus people will be ordering things for Christmas too maybe so that will have increased their workload.

You’ve definitely given me some hope it’s just sat waiting somewhere with you having similar tracking. Is yours coming from the US too or elsewhere?

In this case because its USPS it means they have handed it over to customs, and their scan updated RMs system. But actually it has not been release to RM yet.

I thought the "departed heathrow airport" on USPS tracking was it being handed to customs and then the "processed through facility" meant it had cleared customs?

In the past RM is stuck on "leaving originating country" while USPS saying "departed heathrow airport" but as soon as USPS goes over to "processed through facility" RM's tracking then says the "we've got it" which is showing there now? It's been stuck saying it's going to be delivered today since the 11th so if it was still in customs surely RM wouldn't have updated it to say that?

No, as it was USPS who performed that scan and they can only scan before UK customs, not after. If you get a similar tracking update that was scanned by ROyal Mail then it will have cleared customs.
