Confused As To Where My Parcel Is!!!

I have a parcel coming from Switzerland to the UK -

Swiss post says- The consignment has left the origin border point (this was on the 11th October).
Parcelforce says - Your parcel has left its origin country and is on its way to the UK.

So Where is it, Customs UK?
Tracking no - CF124037590CH

Actually, the 2 different statuses mean the same thing.

Swiss post says- The consignment has left the origin border point (this was on the 11th October).
This means it gobn through Swiss customs, or at least it was scanned as such before it got handed over to them.

Parcelforce says - Your parcel has left its origin country and is on its way to the UK.
Is confirmation of the above, it just means it hasn't cleared Swiss, or more likely UK customs yet. As far as I know No customs service scan parcels so there is always a black hole between one postal company and another with International mail.

If it's sent by road, then it's possible that it'll then have to pass through EU customs (I don't know if Swiss Post have any arrangement/agreement with the EU)

Postal systems are "by and large globally aligned" since about the 1870's. Essentially unless some type of threat is detected the letter or parcel will arrive at UK customs border (with no interference in-between).
Our customs system is in an appalling state, so unfortunately it's a waiting game.

In general, I have found ParcelForce to have gotten a lot better over the last year.

What I do notice with incoming mail from overseas, is ParcelForce sometime assign a new tracking number when it reaches the UK so all of the tracking information stops. Then I'll get a text message saying it's due for delivery today, with a new number - just an idea.

In my experience though, on very long or unusual delays in delivery, an item often won't ever get delivered. You can try contacting PF but there's rarely any helpful answers on the phone, and if you email in it's the same reply everytime.

I also have had PF tracking that shows when an item is selected for customs checking, and it usually says Customs check, Customs hold, released from customs then it hits the National Hub - not sure if that's any use? Just sharing a hopeful experience.

The other experience is an item that vanished in customs at the Coventry International Hub and never appeared again.

Royal mail have told me that the parcel has not entered the UK network, If the parcel was in customs if would show on the tracking.

Yep, all of the above is true. It left the "border point" on the 11th, that point being in Zurich, so the border was the Swiss one.

As for it would show on the tracking if was in customs, yes, it should with Parcelforce, but it isn't unknown for the odd tracking point to get missed. Which doesn't really matter unless it is the most recent one that has gone astray. And there would probably only be one tracking point normally between the Swiss border and entering UK customs.

I contacted the sender who instructed Swiss post to launch an investigation. Swiss post is now saying they are waiting to hear from Royal Mail.

What a JOKE
