All those who are willing to " trust " the CWU leadership can't explain away the reduced IHR payment which is a cynical attack carried out behind the backs of those they represent.
IHR is compensation for disability and should never have been a bargaining chip in a company who for decades have the worst musculoskeletal record in any industry in the UK.
The likes of Andy Furey who couldn't hit a coos arse with a banjo nor drag his own arse up a flight of stairs has agreed outdoor spans on an ageing workforce knowing this will lead to more IHR and increased costs for RM.
Instead of using the Scottish tenement study ( kicked into long grass ) and Royal Mail/ Corrine Pearson 2015 study to improve ergonomics and reduce injury and disability they have agreed to do nothing and instead accepted that on a regular basis a large % of delivery staff will be shown the door on a pittance.
An acknowledgement of the serious musculoskeletal problems within in Royal Mail and the reasons why the leadership came to a figure of £8000 compensation has not been forthcoming.
But seems to many on these threads this is just living in the "real " world and to question otherwise is " anti union "
Yer Ma.
Ihr is a compensation for disabilty how? know plenty who have left on ihr an working still without any problems.ihr is only granted if you are no longer capable of working for royal mail in any function.also where does it say compensation is £8,000 think its around £14,000
My mate had knee problems so couldn't walk for long distances so asked management if he could do an indoor job and was point blank refused and given IHR,so now he is working for another company working indoors on more money, you couldn't make it up 100's of agency guys and younger guys in the mail centre and they paid him off no wonder they are losing millions, but i suppose that's all in the plan thou to get rid of as many delivery guys on the old contracts, give me redundancy and i'll go tomorrow the world of work is a whole lot brighter outside of Royal Mail.
Was this recently? Did OH request further medical evidence or did Royal Mail
Just push for him to go?

Probably slightly different now then as I’ve been waiting for OH to make a decision for a couple of months. Obviously not ideal as the new scheme is about to come in and going to be losing out on a fair bit of money and will need to try find a new job!
PILON (pay in lieu of notice) is one week for every year's service up to a maximum of 12 weeks.
None of it is tax free.
not even the 16 weeks lump sum i always assumed that was tax free ? So this is why when you chase up IHR they say there is a backlog , they are just dragging it out until 1st August so they can screw us !
Hi mate, been trying to find info about the ihr phone calls as I've got 1 coming up. Any chance you could pm me for a little advice. I'm unable to start the pm's as I'm new.
That will rely on mail volumes increasing, which is not likely to happen any time soon.
No, it will rely on making duty spans that big that posties can't complete in time so the company can conveniently keep failing its USO obligations. In the meantime they will keep bumping up the price of letters and parcel volumes (that RM say that they make more profit on) increasing.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
Just seen on the royal mail app that they are changing the occupational health care provider very soon , I've had a quick look at some of the reviews left and they look far worse than who we are dealing with now, my manager has been dangling me on a hook for months not referring me back to optima, he did tell me big changes are on the way due to the wage agreement .
yeah ive not been referred back no idea why? management being unusally quiet, back in the day they used to phone u all the time off sick now they leave u alone, changed days no real idea whats going on

Not sure yet, was my 2nd call with OH, though this one was specifically about IHR.
They asked for my permission to see doctors stuff, so are sending me a form to sign.
Ive been getting delayed since may 30th but luckily enough i got every stage and step documented, every text message saved, every DOM meeting, signed dated and recorded.
Not sure what the next process will be for me though or time scales.
Phone call was from Optima, seen above someone said RM are changing their OH advisor
