I thought that, maybe it's the union warning us of potential job losses but having said that at our place if we lost all the cover duties we still wouldn't have enough staff.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 23:10Why is your rep standing up and saying this. They have been doing it for years without penalty.jbo5066 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 14:10It's one thing to take on a union, it's another to take on the government, parliament and the public .. Should the government say no again, I really do wonder if royal mail have got the balls to take on the latter ... Wonder what the penalty would be for scrapping the USO without permission..
f**k the Union, paying them for absolutely nothing..

Not saying you are wrong, but could we maybe offer more in the way of confirmation than rumour?Ricgarrett wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 22:28I’ve heard this morning that all offices up and down the country will be told about scrapping the uso

Yes they have.Foxel wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 22:00Have they? Why would they tell their workers they will be working Monday to Friday, when they need them to work Saturday and Sunday (Increasingly)?
They have said they want to go to a 5 day USO mon-fri, but they have never been allowed to say they will. And that doesn't automatically equate to the desired shift patterns.
Then of course who is stupid enough to believe anything they say anyway.
They have stated multiple times and one very recently about letters being Monday to Friday.
They are currently putting out job adverts for Saturday and Sunday parcel deliveries.
No other day would make sense to drop for letters as most businesses are shut Saturdays.
Why people have an issue with this being what they have said about Monday to Friday is absolutely beyond me.
Have an issue with it actually happening sure.
In short they want letters mon-fri and parcel’s 7 days a week but what that would mean for every single person in every single office is impossible for me to say.
In my office we are so understaffed I doubt you’d notice.
People also seem to forget that it was Saturday they trialed back in the covid days ……all of the evidence is there and I’ve no idea why people don’t understand that.

Re: USO...lies.
I predict they will keep the short staffed model even for a 5 day uso people think dropping to 5 days will sort all the staff shortages out but in actual fact all it will do is give RM the go ahead to cut more...its not run for staff benefit or the customer its run for shareholders.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 06:36Yes they have.Foxel wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 22:00Have they? Think people might be in for a shock if they think its going to be Monday to Friday,it will be on a 7 day rotation, anyway as one person has already said 9 months redundancy nah, im too quite happy to carry on strolling around cutting off everyday at the moment, they have f----d the walks up so badly and added more for us to do they have no clue on the timings of anything just plucking figures out of the sky,no added time for collection boxes, customer collections and redeliveries,i said to my mate the other day we are now stealing a living with half the walking we use to do and the manager just sits there with his hands on his head completely out of his depth and clueless how to get it all done.

Can't see how they could do that without making being able to drive mandatory for all delivery staffguardianangel wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 09:04Think people might be in for a shock if they think its going to be Monday to Friday,it will be on a 7 day rotation, anyway as one person has already said 9 months redundancy nah, im too quite happy to carry on strolling around cutting off everyday at the moment, they have f----d the walks up so badly and added more for us to do they have no clue on the timings of anything just plucking figures out of the sky,no added time for collection boxes, customer collections and redeliveries,i said to my mate the other day we are now stealing a living with half the walking we use to do and the manager just sits there with his hands on his head completely out of his depth and clueless how to get it all done.

Re: USO...lies.
It is evident that they want 5 day mail Monday to Friday. No one is disputing that. We are saying don't expect your working days to be Monday to Friday.

He wasn't wrong, our rep mentioned it today, in the middle of a few other subjects. A "pause" in the 6 day USO, just while the business gets back on its feet.LouBarlow wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 05:07Not saying you are wrong, but could we maybe offer more in the way of confirmation than rumour?Ricgarrett wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 22:28I’ve heard this morning that all offices up and down the country will be told about scrapping the uso
