Re: USO...lies.
Wondering why people are assuming this means a Monday to Friday week, more likely they will keep you working Saturdays and move as many people as contracts will allow onto Sundays.

Agree nobody else seems to have been informed by the cwu.TopperGas wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 19:48Has this message been said generally across RM DO's or is this one maverick union rep making it all up? If there is any truth in the rumours perhaps that explains why RM have been so reluctant to replace leavers, particularly FT'ers, I'm fairly certain in my DO there wouldn't be any need for redundancies if we moved to Mon-Fri deliveries as we're around 10 to 20% under staffed already.

Re: USO...lies.
i would think with the amount of scandal they have to deal with on a daily basis, royal mail letters are probaby low down the list of worries. So yeah, RM know they can do what they like

I posted a couple of days ago about rm wanting a temporary USO in blue shirts after seeing an email sent to repsaiden01 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 20:05Agree nobody else seems to have been informed by the cwu.TopperGas wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 19:48Has this message been said generally across RM DO's or is this one maverick union rep making it all up? Just roll over and have your tummy tickled provided it suits youscotchy1962 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 18:56Yet again more doom and gloom, or if you look at it positively a chance to work less weekends and for some of us to maybe get a pay off and retire.
We all know the future for RM is going to be nothing like the past, no point in harking back to the halcyon days of job and finish, 1st and 2nd delivery and adhering to the USO.
All these things are gone never to return and no matter who's in power they won't allow anything to change in favour of posties.
I was thinking it's probably only a matter of time before you will not be known as posties anymore under pain of death and will just be known as a delivery person or just No 278421.
Union won't exist and some company appointed committee will make any calls on pay and workload with every toady getting a place on said committee and the walks will be enormous.
George Orwell knew what was coming.

Re: USO...lies.
It does indeed seem very odd, given that our Com/Dom has put a sheet of names he wants downstairs to discuss "seasonal working hours" over the coming weeks/months. Why bother if we are going to run out of money and potentially go bust? ...the plot thickens.aiden01 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 20:05Agree nobody else seems to have been informed by the cwu.TopperGas wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 19:48Has this message been said generally across RM DO's or is this one maverick union rep making it all up? Re: USO...lies.
Have they? Why would they tell their workers they will be working Monday to Friday, when they need them to work Saturday and Sunday (Increasingly)?
They have said they want to go to a 5 day USO mon-fri, but they have never been allowed to say they will. And that doesn't automatically equate to the desired shift patterns.
Then of course who is stupid enough to believe anything they say anyway.

Correct! Everybody assumes they will be going Monday to Friday. This will certainly NOT be the case!

Re: USO...lies.
Why is your rep standing up and saying this. If there’s any truth to it your manager should be giving the speech.
