Re: Rumours or not
I would piss my pants if they don’t pay up . How would the yes voters take it I wonder. As a no voter I honestly wouldn’t give a monkeys if we got it or not . I would love to see the explosive atmosphere if they renege on the payments.

Re: Rumours or not
What I don't understand is that Royal Mail BOUGHT the likes of GLS etc and now its a case of "stand on your own two feet, they are all seperate now".
Union even told us that others countries postal networks do this to fund the USO.

Could you provide a link because that would be more than the entire listed value of the company...Keith Williams has stated to shareholders only a few months ago that the company has retained earnings of £3.8 billion

An equity raise / debt for equity swap whatever you want to call it, at some point I feel is on the cards here.
And to be honest, if it saves the business and our jobs, I'm all up for it.
As a long serving postie who didn't run and cash in their shares at the first opportunity, and who still has the shares, then I would care about the scenario you have just described!

Let’s review this statement in September,to see if the pessimism of the OP was correct , or whether Royal Mail will be as disingenuous as they always are.

It was mentioned by Keith Williams in the shareholder meeting at the Bank of America's HQ.

Not some unsubstantiated nonsense by those anti-union idiots at the WSWS.
If he said it.
It must have be out there somewhere.
If he did say it.
There's certainly nothing in the accounts to suggest it's true and you would think it would be.

Woody is right, there is nothing out there to be found with Williams saying that except for that one source.

Re: Rumours or not
I actually tend to use Yahoo finance for a lot of research on stocks!! But here's a better link.
https://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/londo ... financials
Look at the total equity for Royal Mail 2023. Its at £3.8 billion.
Owners equity is quite simply the assets minus the liabilities of the company and it simply represents the business owners share of the company.
In corporations they tend to call it "retained earnings". It's basically income or profit that is not paid out as dividends i.e. money that is retained or kept in the company's accounts.
Whilst the wsws is anti-union, there is a lot of truth in that article, to which you will find in the other link that I posted....

Re: Rumours or not
The language used for the lump sum section was flimsy and open to interpretation. As I’ve said, I will save my anger for that one if the payment doesn’t turn up in September (or hopefully before).
I’m not sure what people were expecting with the sickness procedures. They stated that they would be upping the time period to a year, so of course people were going to have current stages extended by 6 months. It sucks, but so does pretty much all of that section and the new T&Cs.
