Family Friendly Duties

As anyone in there office been told if there is going to be any. I know in our office when the later finishes come in there's going to be some posties worried about picking up there children .

There must be thousands of parents facing this situation ?

Family friendly = come in early, race round, get everything done and clock off early. The COM have got no problems as long as you've done all your work. If you're on a van share with a slowcoach then you probably have to do half their work as well

Sadly very few.
But it’s not just parents of children that have issues with the times.
My children are all old ,but i am a career to my mum at the moment my wife looks after her in the morning and I’m there to look after work but now it looking like it will increasingly become more difficult to do so

Then you're screwed. I suppose you could ask to get something in writing. But the way this business is going you will be expected to take your breaks when you pick the kids up, and if you take any longer than your scheduled breaks, you will be expected to work past your scheduled finish time.

Alternatively, you reduce your contractual hours so that you can finish earlier or make your hours up on a weekend.

I'm genuinely interested to see how people adapt to this as the company are determined to push through with what they call 'method change'

Nothing, because if it's agreed it'd be alrite. I go off an hour or so early to make the football on a Saturday now and again, and it's fine.

The issue here is that how can there be family friendly duties? You can come in as early as you want, but nothing will start being sorted til 7:30 - 8 o'clock. And the minute one gets a family friendly duty, everybody else is gonna kick off and want one. Gonna be a mess.

If there IS mail in the building there to be sorted earlier than everyones new start time then everyone could start earlier - there'd be no reason for the later start to begin with

The mail wont be there any earlier so there will be no viable family friendly option

You might have a decent COM but they are not only person with access to the PDA data, every minute of our day is being looked at. Enjoy it while it lasts

There would always be mail/packets from the previous day that other posties didn't take out that would need delivering? Whether the COM would allow people to start earlier and SISO can still record them as working a 7 hour duty - starting at 7am and finishing at 2pm??
