Re: Dazzamfc
canttypeandshouts I have no problem with non union members going in to work as it is there choice to etheir join a union and stand up for the fight or stay non members and lie down and take all royal mail want to do to them.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:lmfao if you scab, what does that mean.please explain.L Tommo wrote:THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGING WORDS...
SEE YOU ON THE PICKET LINE....
I hope you give back any advantages the union win when you are out on your own if you scab???
out
as for me being a non union member and there for neither being balloted or consulted by the union i shall be going in as normal .i and my fellow non membs cant aford not to...yes i promise ill hand back all the extra perks the action wins ,like the new tnt uniforms
dont knock people who have morals and principles and stand and fight rather that just give them away on a whimper.at the end of the day all non union members still hold out their hands and take what the union members have had the courage to fight for.

I expect your viewpoint on Union issues depends a lot on your past employment history and whether you've ever had any major problems with an employer to get you thinking about working conditions.
One place where I've worked, they tried not to give anybody any holiday pay at all, although there's clear legislation stating that all workers should receive it. Those who made a fuss were given the worst jobs to do - those girls the manager happened to like got hugged and if they didn't like it and said so, he'd find fault with their work and get their pay docked. I left that place quickly, as did many others, but it's still going after a fashion, though even migrant workers don't stay long. It was no fun at all there but I learnt a bit about workers' rights, in self-defence.
Another place I worked, it was a family business and I was treated as part of the family. I would still be working there if someone in my family hadn't become ill, requiring full-time care for a time. I'd never have needed to know about Unions if I'd gone on working there.
RM working conditions are good, all things considered. If you look at the history of RM working, though, you realise that the conditions are good because the Union has been involved in negotiating them. I wish the CWU would put a potted history of its achievements (listing pay deals offered, and those actually obtained, the negotiated health and safety guidelines, etc etc) on its web site, for all to see. It's not about obstructing management per se, it's about making sure that everyone is treated fairly. The CWU policy is quite wide-ranging (see http://www.cwu.org/default.asp?step=2&id=27). RM is a large company and there's no point in pretending that it's operating for the benefit of its workers. It's operating to make the maximum profit for the management and for the government. RM can support Adam's and Allan's pay rises and bonuses, but apparently has problems when it comes to our pensions and pay. We need to be organised, with the Union resources to support us in the choices we vote for and to keep us acting together in our best interests. If we let that go, cuts in our pay and working conditions would be inevitable until we hit the minimum wage level, running.
