They can’t get everyone back on board after the sell out, only way forward for union is for everyone on PEC and Ward and his cronies to admit they stitched us up to protect their own interests and then to resign, then maybe the union perhaps could survive with new leadershipgb93 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 06:52Well my thoughts are next pay deal.
Monday to Friday 35 hour week with Saturday & Sunday parcels done on mix of overtime & weekend parcel delivery drivers.
If the base 7 hours was 8am to 3pm Mon to Fri that in my opinion would go some way of solving school pick up problems too.
Next deal has to be one that benefits us in some ways too not just waters down RM plans

Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
They can't is the short answer it's everyone for themselves really.
You look after number 1 come in do as little as possible and go home.
With the change in sick and everything else and more on the way no doubt you bide your time till you hopefully can get out the door.

Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
35 hours per week (everybody full-time)
Monday to Friday
5am starts (like the old days)
Another 6% pay rise (along with impending one)
Set break time (conducted if you don't take it)
Ultra rigid work day (do the same jobs everyday, none of this resource to workload/flexibilty nonsense)
£10 per week "specialist skills allowance" for those that can actually do the job correctly (assessed every 6 months)
£10 per week extra for drivers (stops them moaning) only if they actually do a driving duty
Stop easy OT for the favourites

Decrease the subs to £1/week (pro rata)
Announce all Area and Delivery reps will do a week each month on delivery.

No paid meal breaks
Compulsory Sunday working
Commit to deliver
6.00pm last letter
No sick pay except SSP for any absence
No pay rise
And we won’t have a Union leadership willing to stop them

My thoughts on the next deal are that hopefully I won't be any part of it.

They won’t get us back on board, I’d be very cautious of working anywhere near the 39 hours this winter, never see it again and definitely if you’re gonna be off sick make the most of it

Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
I think we will soon get back to normal quite frankly. I believe the CWU, Davie Ward and Terry Pullinger tried their hearts out for us in very hostile and intractable negotiations with a combative and brutal Simon Thompson and Royal Mail.
Thompson gone now and hopefully the wounds heal soon and everyone can start pulling together again.
It won't be easy, but with a little bit of common sense, goodwill and compromise, I believe we will all get back together again.

That's the way this company is heading. And they are hoping that they will be able to do all of the above in one master-stroke because they can recruit new staff on less pay, terms and conditions. The gig economy is in sight for RM.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

They can’t recruit or retain people now, considering this used to be a coveted job , alas no more.postslippete wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 17:29pinstripe wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 16:57My thoughts on the next deal,gb93 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 06:52Well my thoughts are next pay deal.

Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
Delivery has had a big retention problem for years most newbies were only lasting a few months and I doubt now many would want to apply considering how bad the pay is in comparison to physically easier jobs.rubberbond wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 21:00They can’t recruit or retain people now, considering this used to be a coveted job , alas no more.postslippete wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 17:29pinstripe wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 16:57My thoughts on the next deal,gb93 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 06:52Well my thoughts are next pay deal.

It’s not just Royal Mail who have problems all the courier companies are having retention issues.
