Hello,
I am expecting a parcel and it is 1st class signed for delivery I was expecting it to be Thursday and Friday but it has not and it's now Saturday I was wondering if it can still arrive today or if the week after this weekend is over?
Thanks

Re: My Parcel Problem
There is no maximum time on first class so yes, any of those are possible.

My Parcel Belief
Hello,
I have a 1st class parcel that was supposed to come but it did not arrive even today or yesterday or the day before yesterday so I am now thinking that maybe it is lost. If this is the case what will royal mail do to compensate for my lost phone if it is lost and will I get the money back for the phone or will they work something out or what?
Thanks

Re: My Parcel Belief
After 10 working days a claim can be made my a sender if an item is lost.
The amount claimable depend on what service the item is sent by.
You will need proof of postage and proof of cost.
1st + 2nd Class = £20 + Postage
1st/ 2nd Signed = £50 + Postage
Tracked 24/ 48 = £150 + Postage
Special = £750 + Postage (higher if insured to higher value)
No proof of postage/ value your refund would be a book or stamps or a cheque for the value
Royal Mail always have the final say and if they believe there was a break of terms or conditions (incorrect labelling or sending restricted items) they may not pay out.
The policy can be accessed at

Re: My Parcel Belief
Firstly, please don't post in multiple threads on the same item. It just creates extra work for people. Everyone who posts on here is doing so in their own time.
On the other thread you said that this item was 1st class Signed For, and on here you said 1st class only. These are different things. Posting contradictory information makes it more likely that you will receive the wrong answer to a question. This is particularly true as you are asking about compensation, one of the few ways that 1st class Signed For differs from 1st class.
One thing that concerns me is that is that you said that this is a phone. Unless it is exceptionally cheap, or a landline handset, then it is unlikely that the compensation level for 1st class / 1st class Signed For will cover the value of the item. In general, a smartphone should go via Special Delivery, which gives a higher compensation level, gets full tracking and gives a guaranteed delivery time.
The other thing that concerns me is that the batteries in mobile phones are subject extra rules under the Dangerous Goods Act. There are strict rules on how you package these items, and failure to do so can lead to destruction of the parcel and, potentially, prosecution of the sender. It seems to me that a sender who made a poor choice of service is less likely than average to have observed the packaging rules. If the sender has not packaged the item properly then, on the tracking, I would expect it to spend a number of days in a mail centre before eventually going to the National Returns Centre in Belfast.
