The rep in my office said this morning there may well be a bigger lump sum offer coming up to seal the deal so to speak .

Whether or not it's true who knows.
Heard the same this morning. Must be worried about a NO vote if their going to offer a bigger lump sum.
Also indicates We are being played if they can find more Money.
When will they find their Best & Final offer, when it's a big No and they have to start talking seriously!!!!
They haven’t ‘found more money’ it will likely be the bigger lump sum and smaller year one percentage raise, as was floated as an option before. It works out similarly only this way you get the sum up front, but it works out worse as the raise doesn’t leak into OT and other allowance payments/pensions.

The deal is more likely to be voted through if they offer 6% and £1500 now, not 2%. That might be the ‘ace’ they have up their sleeve. Yes, I know about the changes but they will come in anyway.

The Union would never choose this option. Why would anyone choose this? You'd have to be mad to choose a lump sum over a percentage in wages increase. That percentage would flow through to your allowances, pension and would also keep pushing up your yearly increases for the remaining time employed with Royal Mail.

They see the ££££ but most of it goes to the tax man and not in your pocket like a percentage increase over time!

Because a bigger lump sum would attract more yes votes. That is just obvious. Not everyone voting is smart and will see the ££-signs and vote for it on the lump sum alone. It is why I am amazed the union didn’t choose that option in the first place as the vote will definitely be closer with the tabled option right now.

I would be amazed, amazed, if RM somehow find more money for the lump sum and agree to increase the first year wage rise, but I’ve been wrong before. I can’t see it changing now, but if it does, it will likely be the 1500 quid option presented previously, which is actually less attractive to me, for the reasons you outline.

They may have found more money or a way to give an additional lump sum and it won’t be a smaller year one percentage raise as you have stated, Dave explained it in the interview with AngryPostie and you are again posting your opinion and not facts or information that’s been released.

with the poor pay of £500 only for us with no backdated pay, why don't the union do a deal with royal mail, could get us £1500 lump sum and back dated pay if we shut down the callers offices, royal mail would make savings that way. Lets face it the posties are doing everything now plus the callers work, not many parcels brought back today for the 2nd attempt shows u their is no need for the callers, so union could use this as leeway to get us a better deal, since theirs no use for callers now
Why don't they close the RLB as well , spending all that money to send mail back to people who can't be bothered to put a return address on it.
If they don't put a return address clearly it's not important and they don't want it back , that includes bloody businesses.

I’ve long thought that, I don’t want to see colleagues out of jobs but it seems ridiculous them having to open mail, piece together clues etc purely because the sender couldn’t be bothered to put a return address on.

On a related note we have a parcel that for the last 8/9 months has gone between our office and a neighbouring one. The recipient has moved away (no redirection in place), and the sender has also moved away (also no redirection). No one - senior posties, workplace coach, management - seem to know what to do. Every week we send it back to the return address, following week it comes back.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Has this been released as a statement then? Until I see it in an agreement I’ll continue to offer my opinion. Thanks.

Reps have been briefed on a higher lump sum. We were offered 500 or 1500. Will it be 1000 by any chance? It seems all a bit convenient to seal the deal. There is nothing left to give. Oh hang on, there's something left to give

The pay rise is bad but if they took all the rest off the table i'd vote for it.Terms and conditions are far more important in my opinion.
