It’s over the line…….RM have an agreement with the CWU endorsed by the PEC. That’s what collective bargaining is about. The LTB with the timetable even refers to it as a consultative ballot. If it’s a no then that’s a CWU issue and RM will press on regardless.needadvice wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 00:28Exactly my thinking. The current deal is expected to be rejected, with the view of one final small improvement to be conceded, in order to take the sting out of the bad deal. I don't see any other way, other than RM making a small concession to get it over the line and I think the delay in the ballot gives the opportunity to install a "sweetener"FilthyBloke wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023, 00:16I keep wondering if they have a secret ‘back up’ deal which is maybe the original £1500 lump sum.
At the 11th hour RM and CWU come out with a last ditch miracle and offer us that and it’ll probably sway it more than if they offered it originally….
Or maybe it’s wishful thinking.

Maybe not the big ticket "financial viability" items like pay or later start times. But the rest of the small print horror show.
They then go back and get a better deal. Ball's in RM's court.

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
If it comes back as a no....there is no agreement.
This is (I believe) what RM are quietly hoping for, if there is no agreement to adhere to they can just full steam ahead with anything they want, answerable to no one. They took no notice of industrial action during the 3 busiest periods of the year (Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas) so they are not going to worry too much about the quiet summer period.
But, either way they win, a no means do what they like, and a yes means they've shafted the workforce anyway with a crap deal. But given their complete lack of trust on previous deals they'll probably just do what they like anyway.
There's a reason why Ward, Furey and "comments in the box" Webb have gone to ground!

Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
It's not going to be a NO, forget about the laudmouths on here and on Facebook & Twitter. It will be bulldozed through by the silent majority who think 'well I don't like it much but the union are recommending it and I'm fed up with it all' plus they'll look at that £500 more then they will read the whole agreement.
But if people did vote NO Royal Mail would impose the pay rises and still impose the changes to the terms and conditions, but they won't pay that £500 because that bit is conditional on union members voting YES.
Then come 2025 they'll feel free to bring in further changes to terms and conditions and when the union complains, they'll ask 'well what are you going to do about it this time?'

By then we could well have a Labour Government in charge and it might not be so easy for RM to walk all over the CWU.robking wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 18:32It's not going to be a NO, forget about the laudmouths on here and on Facebook & Twitter. It wouldn't surprise me if RM found another £500 to sweeten the deal a bit more if they fear a No vote, as it seemed odd the CWU suggesting the CWU were still investigating whether they could pay out any more money when they announced the deal.

No chance anything would change if Labour get into power and even that is nowhere near guaranteed.milly wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 20:11Labour are the same as the Tories, they won't lift a finger to help us.TopperGas wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 19:19By then we could well have a Labour Government in charge and it might not be so easy for RM to walk all over the CWU.robking wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 18:32It's not going to be a NO, forget about the laudmouths on here and on Facebook & Twitter. Re: If the agreement ballot comes back as a NO
I've spoken to a lot of people and there is only one person who said they'd vote no. I work in a very large unit with well over 500 people.
It is not a sorting office though.

Think you'll find bullies tend to pick on the weak and those less inclined to defend themselves, it's what bullies do.sweepster70 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 00:20

So you basically spoke to a load of people who aren't really affected by the proposed changes, it's hardly surprising they are going to vote Yes?sweepster70 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 23:08I've spoken to a lot of people and there is only one person who said they'd vote no. Who knows the question or wording of the ballot paper yet?
