The general consensus is that the CWU has spectacularly outdone itself this time - and what makes it worse is that we are seeing historically high inflation over a prolonged period.denhamhoop wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 15:14To be honest I don't think they have ever been able to negotiate effectively each single deal we give up more than we get in return and always for less than inflation pay rises to be fair this time they had little chance because Royal Mail were willing to throw Xmas under the bus to get the changes through they wanted. Their first priority is survival of the CWU. By their own words RM tried to de-unionise the workplace. That would mean a complete freefall in subs which would mean their £100,000 + salaries/perks/lifestyle would be threatened.dakka86 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 13:34It’s a complete conchickenwittle wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 13:12I tell you what is hard to grasp , the unions aspirations to take us down to a 35 hour week has somehow taken us up to 39 hours for a third of the year , brilliant negotiators.
We should not be starting it at the flex up period we will constantly be giving them time in lieu. Complete madness the union agreed to this
So - throw the membership under the bus to save the leadership.
It's either that or they suddenly forgot how to negotiate effectively. Do you think that is likely?
Give us a decent pay rise with shit strings attached
or maybe give us a shitty pay deal with no strings attached
But do not, repeat, DO NOT - give us a SHIT PAY DEAL AND SHIT STRINGS ATTACHED

Total 1924 hours the same i think you meanMartin Walsh wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 17:0952 weeks at 37 hours equals 1924 hours
The seasonal variations starts in September 2023 and runs to September 2024.
You will work 15 weeks at 39 hours equals 585 hours
You will work 15 weeks at 35 hours equals 525 hours
You will work 22 weeks at 37 hours equals 814 hours
Total 1024 hours the same.
Whilst annual leave is April to March our hours have never been linked to this period.
Those attendance patterns which have shorter Saturdays or longs and shorts will balance their hours over more than a week some patterns as long as 12 weeks.

Totally agree if we get proper pay rise I could accept some changes. But what cwu did its shocking we will pay our payrise from our pockets.stevejm wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 18:31The general consensus is that the CWU has spectacularly outdone itself this time - and what makes it worse is that we are seeing historically high inflation over a prolonged period.denhamhoop wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 15:14To be honest I don't think they have ever been able to negotiate effectively each single deal we give up more than we get in return and always for less than inflation pay rises to be fair this time they had little chance because Royal Mail were willing to throw Xmas under the bus to get the changes through they wanted. Would it be fair to say most people would work just about all the longer 39 hour weeks as they are during the busy period where annual leave is unavailable, and most people will take annual leave during the 35 hour week period as its the summer, meaning we`ll lose out?

Is there any clarity on this from either RM or the CWU?squirrel67 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 19:39You will work 15 weeks at 39 hours equals 585 hours

Time to stop coming in early and running around, using your own cars, you would only be making a rod for your own back.
Been saying this for ages and the runners listen.

Re: Is the 500 pound lump sum self funded
Couple of things if your taking annual leave during the summer months your weeks leave will be 35 hours an annual leave is measured in hours.
Plus your paid 37 hours 52 weeks per year. So this will be the same.
