Thing is if this agreement fails it fails most on this and the pay not just the pay!

Please imagine that if you go on sick in January, 11 months after in November (first 2 days unpaid) next sick 6/7 months later in June (again 2 days unpaid) and unfortunately after 5 months something happened and you have to go sick again in October straight away loosing first 4 days of sick absences.
That's absolutely not acceptable.
You have this wrong. It is in a 12 month period , so if your scenario plays out , the absence in June would be payed and the October would be 2 days unpaid.

Its a stupid system we have in place where 1 day absence counts the same as 1 week absence

If this agreement comes in, Postman A could be off for 1 day and then 11 months later is sick for 2 days and these are unpaid whilst Postman B is off for 7 days and then later in the year off another 5 days - 2 of which are unpaid

Postman A is off for 3 days total and this counts as 2absences and he is paid only 1 of these days and loses 2 days pay
Postman B is off for 12 days total and this counts as 2 absences and he is paid 10 of these days and loses 2 days pay

It is absolutely ridiculous that this agreement stipulates that the first few days of the second absence is unpaid no matter how long or short the first absence was
Postman B would trigger a stage though.

That would be awful for people with work related injuries that take a while to heal and anyone with serious health issues.
I quite agree but if it’s a work related injury you should receive full pay, if there was any justice
If there was any justice then some work related injuries like bad knees, feet, ankles etc, which have got worse over many years pounding the streets, should be deemed industrial injuries and have varying levels of compensation attached to them instead of being treated with "It comes with the job" type attitude.
Hopefully in the future we might be able to claim for them, like the miners did with vibration white finger.
For we were soldiers once, and young

Mate read this once again ther was sample on 4 sick absences on over 12 months
January to November 2 absences in 12 months
November - June- October 3 absences in 12 months
October-march-september 3 absences 12 months
September - may 2 absences in 12 months
Attendece is counted from sick to sick in 12 months period not in calendar year.
Basically You can go sick only once in 12 months to get full pay.

The rolling period has to start somewhere ! I get what you're saying and if you are correct (you may well be) then how the hell is anyone prepared to accept this.

I’ve never liked the rolling twelve months or the fact they include days that you don’t work. The sick procedure should just be on sick periods and not have day ms included. That is what the police do

If it was a workplace injury and he wasn't negligent then he should be fine.

No doubt they will find a way for it to be his fault.
