No you don't get £500 in the back pockets it's pro rata ie how many hours you are contractually employed for and the tax man will get 33% of it the more you earn the more the tax!
Unless the £500 puts you over the threshold of £50,270 into the 40% tax bracket you don't pay any more tax than the 20% rate.
I can't understand some people's logic.
People complain about the tax on the lump sum but not on the payrise :arrrghhh .
I also can't understand the amount of Left wingers on here who sound like Tories when it comes to paying tax and national insurance :no no .
Almost as bad as posties who vote for tories…

The vote here doesn’t surprise me. I expect the actual vote to get through but it might well be close.

National insurance and pension contributions are mandatory and will eat into the £500 so £500 in your pockets is not true is it!

I can't think of anything more hypocritical than people who worship the Welfare State complaining about paying for it.

Where in the deal does it specify that the £500 was tax free.

A Yes Vote is for Common Sense.
A No Vote is too lose all our jobs.
It's a No Brainer.
Firstly, I would just like to welcome you to this forum. Secondly, I see that you only joined yesterday, therefore your opinion is invalid. Maybe you are a shareholder or RM or CWU executive. Funny how all the pro yes voters recently joined 🤣

Exactly. And you will lose it very quickly through an inferior sick pay policy

It’s basically a weeks wage.
That’s it.
A weeks wage bonus and an extra £17 or so more in your weekly wage.

I know full well about it could be worse or not have sick pay as most firms do not and the ill health IHR is reduced we could have no pay rise and protect the core terms and conditions or trade off for a pay rise that some think is crap. The whole deal is crap don't come on here telling me about it done this s**t for 30 plus years. So you come up with a better deal then!
