Changes for Callers?
Got back from my meal relief this morning to find the AGM and the new Business Commercial Manager (who apparently was the guy who set up the PO closures in the County) in Callers waiting for me. They said they were paying an interest in Callers
(first time anyone has paid an interest to be honest) and what did I think would improve the service and make us more efficient etc, which put me on the spot. Anyway I'm sure there must be a motive for this visit, like setting us up to sell PO Counter services, has any other offices had any interest paid to them on adding to the Callers services?
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Re: Changes for Callers?
Well I would think there may be some correlation between PO closures and the interest shown in callers offices. If each DO has a minimum of 2 attendants and there are how many callers offices? - multiplied by 2 and you have a fairly significant number for EVR - now where shall we put the returned packages? - take your pick really Tesco (24/7), ASDA (24/7), Morrisons, Somerfields all have secure rooms and a plethora of staff - some even have free bus services - are they going to be close to customers? - do you think they'll give a crap.k66yla wrote:Got back from my meal relief this morning to find the AGM and the new Business Commercial Manager (who apparently was the guy who set up the PO closures in the County) in Callers waiting for me. Apparently they want shorter opening hours, I'm not complaining I hate the late shift.baldrick wrote:Tell him you need longer opening hours, more staff and back up, bigger premises with better storage space, and
an extra payment for working in the Callers Office - you won't see him again then.
Just remembered, within a couple of hours of these two AM's coming in 2 blokes armed with tape measures and cameras turned up and what with being shadowed by a LM this week something is in the wind.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

They close our Callers Office at 1230 now every day giving the public just 5 1/2 hours to call in. We used to stay open till 1900 - best watch out as it does not go down well with them and instead of a quiet steady day on Mondays and Tuesdays we now get hammered every day and the phone and re-deliveries just don't stop.k66yla wrote:Apparently they want shorter opening hours, I'm not complaining I hate the late shift.baldrick wrote:Tell him you need longer opening hours, more staff and back up, bigger premises with better storage space, and

Found out today off my DOM they want to put a self-serve postal service in Callers i.e. scales and machine to print off postage etc. Apparently this is just the tip of the ice-berg and expect this to be rolled out nationally in C.O's

A replacement for a Post Office. Close thousands of staffed Post Offices and open some unstaffed ones - that would save a fortune !disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Surely that would make it a Post Officek66yla wrote:Found out today off my DOM they want to put a self-serve postal service in Callers i.e. scales and machine to print off postage etc. Apparently this is just the tip of the ice-berg and expect this to be rolled out nationally in C.O's
