You really think most posties don't know that they have to pay tax and NI? Really?priority102 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 08:34This deal will be like every other deal before it.....
Many of those voting will only be looking at the pay and lump sum(not being savvy enough to realise that the lump sum AND future pay increase will be subject to tax and NI) and accept it.
As usual, they won't pay attention to what RM WANT BACK in return in the belief that RM will never want their bit.
This is always where the deals then fall flat and Dave Ward & Co fall for it every time without fail....the pay and lump sums are paid almost immediately. But, a few weeks/months later when RM start knocking on the door want their part of the deal back (the same deal which members voted for and accepted), there is uproar amongst the workforce as they can't accept the concept of the give and take deal they accepted, and back to square one you go....dispute.
It never has, nor ever will, change.

That's the way things work. Blame those who voted for brexit and the actions of Putin last yr, coupled with a covid weakened economy.
After all that, pain and bad times have to be endured to reset and start again on the good times. I'm honestly surprised that the world isn't in a much worse state than it is financially.

Leads and Lags mean the full impact of interest increases haven't really been felt yet.rambo1 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 09:57That's the way things work. Blame those who voted for brexit and the actions of Putin last yr, coupled with a covid weakened economy.

If a deal comprises of a reduction of our hard earned terms and conditions, then it’s not really a deal is it? It’s a sell out. If you can’t see that RM want a gig economy work force then more fool youKennethBoon wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 10:25aiden01 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 09:49Are you the same person who only recently asked how to get ihr..bit spineless that would you not think assuming you are not ill.why would people need to grow a pair i'm sure most of them have been on strike an what has it acheived after nearly a year of talks.people just want a deal.![]()

Exactly that! people just want to get on with their lives! This as well as Covid has been consuming our lives for years and to call people spineless is absolutely disgusting! We’ve all supported this dispute and given up money on strike days and a good percentage took a trip into London to go on a rally so to say if we vote for it we’re all spineless is beyond me?aiden01 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 09:49Are you the same person who only recently asked how to get ihr..bit spineless that would you not think assuming you are not ill.why would people need to grow a pair i'm sure most of them have been on strike an what has it acheived after nearly a year of talks.people just want a deal.
Then I’m obviously spineless then!

Massive unachievable walks, later start and finish times, longer hours in winter, low wage rise, monitoring your performance, but hang on a minute we will get a 1200 after tax lump sum. Then we can't complain and everyone is happy. I can put it towards the motility scooter we will all need once I'm out of here. All our bodies will be physically and mentally broken.

You are still working the same hours after any deal is agreed on. I come in on time and go home on time. It won’t be any different. I don’t really care what I do between those two times.Mazdaman wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 11:14Massive unachievable walks, later start and finish times, longer hours in winter, low wage rise, monitoring your performance, but hang on a minute we will get a 1200 after tax lump sum. If the offer of an increased wage is on the cards and a lump sum its a yes from me. I have a family to think about different start times are not an issue for myself personally new starters on inferior wages to begin with not an issue 14 quid plus per hour and 1200 in the bank yes please.

The deal will be what it will be. What concerns me is will RM honour it in the future or is this the first foot in the door to completely dismantle our t & cs. Take sick leave. Next year will RM say "oh let's pay SSP for the first two weeks of absence instead of three days" The year after SSP for the first month. And so on and so on. For me yes I want the best deal possible but the trust issue is a different kettle of fish altogether.

You really show disdain and intimate that our colleagues are stupid if they accept the deal.
Many people will know that the deal won't be brilliant but they have to put food on the table and keep a roof over their families heads.
Quite a few on here are clamouring for a Pyrrhic victory.
What my post said was, that every time a new deal is put to the members and voted on, many only look at one side of the deal - the pay increase side, without reading what the company will be looking to take back in return, probably in the belief that they think it will never actually happen.
The pay increases nearly always happen straightaway, and for a short time everyone is happy.
THEN... a few months later the company come back at the workforce suddenly wanting THEIR side of the deal. This in turn causes uproar, and before long ANOTHER dispute is active. Back to square one.
The thing to remember with the company now - particularly the current rabble at the top - they WILL come back for their share of the deal.
