If I decide to accept/reject the deal it will be a decision made on what’s best for me my family and my personal circumstances, it will not be blindly due to it being recommended by the negotiators and certainly won’t be ‘in spite of the union’ like you’ve wrongly suggested.LouBarlow wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 07:46I’m more interested in why you think showing distrust in the CWU improves your working conditions and pay. Why even go out on strike, up to now, if you are going to turn down a pay rise and agreement just to spite the union? It is bizarre to me. Instead of agreeing to a deal you are happy to carry on with the same pay, having change imposed on you without any extra money.

I think everyone would agree that they will be deciding based on what is best for our own circumstances, I just don’t see any scenario, where turning down more money improves them. Again, voting no will not suddenly lead to RM offering any change to the policies they will impose, with or without union support. If voting no leads to more strikes, how will that improve the situation? I’m honestly interested to hear your opinion, because nearly a year of industrial action has not suddenly forced RM to abandon their changes to sick pay etc, that were there at the very beginning.

Re: If you accept the deal then don't moan
Most of the change they want has already been forced in, if this deal gets a thumbs up from membership it suggests that most think we have got the best deal possible, if it gets a thumbs down it suggests the membership thinks the CWU have not. If we reject the deal and it means more strikes so be it. Am more than prepared to be in that position as am sure many others will be.LouBarlow wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 08:23“Voting no shows a lack of trust in the CWU leadership, and shows they are out of touch with the membership”Burghboy wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 08:13If I decide to accept/reject the deal it will be a decision made on what’s best for me my family and my personal circumstances, it will not be blindly due to it being recommended by the negotiators and certainly won’t be ‘in spite of the union’ like you’ve wrongly suggested.LouBarlow wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 07:46I’m more interested in why you think showing distrust in the CWU improves your working conditions and pay. Re: If you accept the deal then don't moan
This deal will be like every other deal before it.....
Many of those voting will only be looking at the pay and lump sum
(not being savvy enough to realise that the lump sum AND future pay increase will be subject to tax and NI) and accept it.
As usual, they won't pay attention to what RM WANT BACK in return in the belief that RM will never want their bit.
This is always where the deals then fall flat and Dave Ward & Co fall for it every time without fail....the pay and lump sums are paid almost immediately. But, a few weeks/months later when RM start knocking on the door want their part of the deal back (the same deal which members voted for and accepted), there is uproar amongst the workforce as they can't accept the concept of the give and take deal they accepted, and back to square one you go....dispute.
It never has, nor ever will, change.

You really show disdain and intimate that our colleagues are stupid if they accept the deal.priority102 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2023, 08:34This deal will be like every other deal before it.....

Many people will know that the deal won't be brilliant but they have to put food on the table and keep a roof over their families heads.
Quite a few on here are clamouring for a Pyrrhic victory.

Nobody is bending over, I've no idea why you have to use such extreme rhetoric.
You show a total lack of respect for our colleagues who sacrificed a lot to support this Strike.

Re: If you accept the deal then don't moan
What ever deal is agreed is more than likely the best deal we are going to get! And will be voted on accordingly my concern is as we all know by now how this top management think and work (we have been in dispute with them for best part of a year and it’s been consuming all our lives for that amount of time) and if it’s rejected Royal Mail won’t be asking the union what the problem is they will basically have the “f@#k you lot” you’ve had your years worth of talking it’s our way now! we give you plenty of time and your negotiators have agreed with us you’re obviously split as a union and workforce and that would mean a complete gig economy type workplace and all the rest of the s#@te they originally planned! So it will be a win win situation for them!

Re: If you accept the deal then don't moan
Some proper defeatists on here, if you want to take the money then do so, but remember they’ll come for more eventually. More strikes might seem ineffective but when it affects the bottom line for the coming year serious questions will be asked from the board and heads will roll. Shareholders will only take so much before they demand a return on their investment
