Good idea if it works, usual RM policy not to let staff know what’s happening, guess there will be redundancies in CSP as there won’t be the work especially as I have heard on the 2nd visit there will only be two options have it redelivered for a 3rd time or pick it up from a local post office, collection from a CSP will not be available.
When local post offices get overloaded with all the 739'd items they'll just start refusing the 739'd items and Local Collects
Weve been told 3 attempts then return to sender
I assume a customer can still choose to have it delivered to their local PO? Once they realise it'll be returned they'll probably start using that option, but what's the betting nobody has warned the PO they are going to become our new callers office?

So what happens to Callers Office staff who can't do deliveries due to heath issues etc, redundancy, even though the company is promising not to make any redundancies?
I'm pretty sure when this initially cropped up there was mention of a specific redundancy plan for people in that position.

Although I wouldn't be surprised now if they offered them an alternate job elsewhere like Orkney delivery office, take it or leave or something equally ridiculously out of the question.

I'd give it a couple of months, 3 tops before PO branches start to refuse all Local Collects and P379'd items if RM bring this in

We have been told, there will be one redelivery attempt and then it will be booked in as normal. Posties will have two different P739’s. One for 1st attempt and one for 2nd.
Not sure If collecting from CSP will be an option, but our COM seems to think it will be.
I’m sure it will work in some offices and be a disaster in others.
Two different P739’s? Yet another ‘efficiency saving’ made nonsensical by an unnecessary new cost. Customers don’t bother reading the existing one.
Its one 739 card with 2 sections, one for first attempt and the other for the second
Any items not delivered on first day go back to your
own frame and get the usual indoor scan . There is no address for the D.O on the card .
Our cards are absolutely woeful, overloaded with information which the general public rarely read anyway. I don’t want us to become DPD but they post a tiny card with a barcode on. Ours is like a manual for your new toaster.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Just return items back to DO, sticker them up and return to sender marked 'Refused'.

They'll still need someone to log and process the returned pkts no? Or are you expected to just pile them up in the isle day after day by your frame?
They'll probably expect each postie to so their own when they get back
150 posties queing up to book their parcels in on two computers ?
You will use your pda to scan undelivered and put back on your frame, once the 3 chances are up the pda will have a tick box to returned to sender.

It's good to know we are all on the same page.
Do you think they will have different procedures for different parts of the country?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I bet they are still expecting us to absorb it will be very hard to finish, if you add all the non delivered items to the workload and you deliver oversized items then fitting the work in a small van will be a problem on some days bubble wrap takes up loads of space. Our so called competitors leave everything on the doorstep a second delivery does not happen 99% of the time. Bad idea but we all know its getting ready for packet only jobs letters for p/t workers on min wage.
