My office has recently introduced time off in lieu (TOIL)
it's an absolute game changer, I'm effectively working 4 day weeks now. So much better for work/life balance & mental health.
could you elaborate on that mate, if stuff like this was brought in lots of offices people might be more willing moving forward
Put simply, our o/t sheets have a tick box option if you want to credit the hours towards TOIL instead of getting paid for them.
We can hold TOIL hours up to our weekly contract hours and use them pretty much as we please & it's continuous throughout the year. Use some of your hours for a day off? You can do more o/t & credit it back.there are occasional refusals for the time off, peak summer etc but these are few & far between.
I did over 150 hours TOIL last year & took loads of extra days off
Works great in our office, we've just had the first week of the leave year & I worked 17 hours overtime, all of it credited to TOIL.
Can highly recommend.
Think I've heard of this system but I'm sure it was called annualised hours...could be wrong tho.

Unlike annualised hours which work both ways (ie you make 10 mins Mon, 20 mins Tue, 10 mins Wed, they can ask you to stop out for 30 mins on Thu), TOIL is a one way street. You just bank hour instead of taking an overtime payment. In our office, you'd never be able to get the time off, except possibly mid-February . . .

Spend some time with your family, they’ll be saying @ the wake, we never seen him, he was always @ work, enjoy yourself it’s later than you think 💀
What if your partner works and the kids are at school? Some people still enjoy the job believe it or not.

You need to get a hobby !!! or life :)
Another get a life brigade.... oh please for once tell us all what wonderful lifes you lead but still work for RM 😆 frankly the people who say get a life need to stop worrying about others and eh.... get a life.
Working your day off for RM will never make you rich ,you'll wake up one day and realise your no better off than the who doesn't,that's if you live as long as the one who doesn't that's why its called a rest day,as i've said if you have nothing else in your life then carry on and devote your life to RM or work all your rest days for a couple of years to buy that new car that will get you from a to b the same as mine.
I enjoy my life and I still enjoy the job. The only day off I don’t work is a Saturday, unless I have the following week off then I don’t mind so much.

Its your outlook on life that determines⁷ your happiness.
Totally agree. I work 6 days every week except when it's my Saturday off which at the minute is still one in four. Hour overtime in the mornings to prep and working my day off helps pay the bills. Fingers crossed I can get myself out of royal mail in the coming months but until then it's ALL about supplying for my family, not for the love of the job.

Meanwhile part timers haven't got any chance in getting a full time contract while all these people are constantly working all the OT they can
I am a part timer you idiot!!!
That's why I do it!!!!

Whether it's a MC or DO, RM aren't going to make any PT upto FT when they are getting the work covered by using a combination of RM staff doing SA or OT and using agency/casuals

Whilst RM are getting the work covered by the use of agency/casuals, OT and SA there's no way they're going to make any PT up to FT be it in a MC or DO

Exactly ,there are blokes in my work who'd slit their mates throat to work their day off,i watch it week in week out the sucking and sniffling to the bosses and slagging others off to get OT,you are right there is enough work for everyone to be full time, but we live in a materialistic greedy world.
