But here is the thing:
Resource to workload. If the workload is x then the resource is x.
If the workload is 3x then the resource needs to be 3x. It isn't rocket engineering.
:left:

Resource to workload, there's probably not many offices either DO or MC where that happens. In many it's likely resource to budget

That's OK if you get back early on Sat. We at Bolton North are just about getting back on time on Sat. then on Monday we are in late no way could we get them all in on Monday, we do what we've always done, one column per day on each walk.

In our office I'd say about 25% of staff get away with doing no/minimal d2d that they should be doing. Same ones who don't have time amazingly find 20 minutes standing around waiting to clock out or have 5 fag breaks before leaving the office. Managers are as weak as $#@# and don't deal with any of the dossers.

so as someone has already pointed out on here, the 2 deliveries he preps has 2500 delivery points. if there's 3 sets thats 7500 D2Ds to prep in BEFORE you even box a letter in. and as clash says, he's never had to spend 3 hours prepping D2dS in. is there really ANYBODY on here that can truthfully say they could prep 7500 D2Ds in in 3 hours or less? i know i couldn't. it would probably take longer. i would have to see it to believe it cos imo its impossible. not a chance in hell. i had 4 sets the other week, so on that basis it would be 10,000 to prep in before you started on letters!! do me a favour. :cuppa

I don't know where you get 3 hours from. I have never spent 3 hours prepping D2D on Monday.

But here is the thing:
Resource to workload. If the workload is x then the resource is x.
If the workload is 3x then the resource needs to be 3x. It isn't rocket engineering.

Putting all the D2D in on Monday isn't a problem. Making sure you have the resource available to do that is another thing.
Now whether someone on light duties starts doing them on Saturday after you have left for delivery, or a Sunday packet driver who doesn't have enough work to fill their shift or a part timer on overtime on Monday morning or like us you have a longer Monday to allow the D2D prep to be done is all that matters.
Don't any reps do weekly resourcing meetings.

I understand people don't like doing things differently. I know prepping 2 frames with D2D is unbearably boring but when people start with the notion that it takes 3 hours and it can't be done, I can understand why everything fails.

It reminds me of a rep we had who, no matter what was suggested, would run around the office shouting -It won't work. I've told him it won't work.
I like your resource to workload line.

As if nobody ever thought of that before.

I mean… All it takes is resource. Right??

Whoever would have thought it?

Try putting 4-5 d2d in 1400 delivery points. See how long it takes you. Of course you have never done that.

It’s been timed by multiple different people in the office. It takes that long. This is a categorical fact. Not an assumption. Not anybody being awkward.

Obviously certain offices get fewer than us and that takes different amount of time, fair enough. How are you going to resource D2D when people’s Mother’s Day cards weren’t going the previous week? That’s what you clearly do not seem to be able to comprehend. There is NO time. If you make cuts in the day to focus on one area; another fails. It’s simply a game of picking your poison in the current climate.
D2D’s are - in the eyes of management - way down the list. It is as simple as that with current staffing levels.

I know all this doesn’t align with your narrative Clash. This is the reality.

You clearly do not like the facts.

Half of my frames are double slots so its impossible to put in when you have over 3 plus you dont know which of the two has been posted .
Have resorted to bundling them in 20's and stick them at the end of the bundle

Our coms aren't bothered with d2ds; they don't bother to check if everyone is doing them; any leftovers get put on lapsing walks ...

The walk that's paired up near mine has not done any for the past 2 weeks and there is also trays of mail on a York that's not been prepped, guess what got prepped today by a light duties Guy

Disgraceful but I guess that's where the money is for them.

Just to back up your point Wolf91, I did a little bit of maths which has never been my strong point so I might be wrong.

Let’s be lenient and go with 4 D2D, which of course we don’t nest (do we, team?) that’s 5600 total separate D2Ds. If we are going with 3 hours, that means 1 D2D needs to go into each slot every 2 seconds.

Obviously this is on the assumption the frame is empty (which it rarely is), you don’t break off to go to the toilet, a manager doesn’t ask you a question or tells you to do something different that will only take 5mins.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It’s all very well and good them saying that.

Let’s get down to the reality of how this will pan out though.

After a brief conservation with the DIM, most OPG’s up and down the country will make it clear that if you want them to use 3 hours of their time to put D2D’s in the frame, you are perfectly fine to do that. I certainly would be. The conversation will go something along the lines of:

“Alright mate it’s come from above that we *have* to put in door to doors on a Monday now. Do them first then see how you are.”

OPG: “Do you really want to use 3 hours of my time to put in all these D2D’s though gaffer? I’ve got 3 days mail & parcels to sort through & deliver here”.

“I know… erm… True… Errm….
Put them under the frame mate. We will see to them when we got time.”

As you were. :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: :thumbup :thumbup

We have been told they need to all go in on a Monday, which is what I now do, no matter how long it takes.
That's what they want, that's what they'll get.
