Divisional Reps, Branch officers and Area Reps have been updated on the current state of national talks. It has been reported that RM have moved partly towards an acceptable agreement.

We have the basis of an independent review of all conduct cases during IA agreed, the CWU wants this to include scrutiny of the role of managers.

The Board of RM meet on Wednesday to prepare for an audit of the business finances before statements to the market on 17th May. They need to decide then whether they would rather face administration or an agreement for change with the CWU.

The situation is serious. The leadership of Thompson and his crew have brought RM to the brink of collapse. The priority of the CWU will be to protect an defend members whatever the outcome.

A meeting of the Postal Executive on Tuesday will reflect feedback from Reps and members. It will consider serving notice for industrial action.
Unity at this time is crucial.

All it proves is that deliveroo isn't making money any more. Evidently people have started cooking for themselves according to the new. Which is a good thing. But not for deliveroo. If they can't afford to keep the staff, they're going to let them go aren't they? It's not a charity. Same as here at RM. Some people still think the company owes them a job, even if the company aren't working out. Welcome to the real world where business hires and fires in accordance with the work they have or have not. When was the last time Royal Mail made people redundant? Not including the recent VR and the lucky few EVR.

It's Royal Mail who have now trapped themselves into a corner. They have two options.... Move more towards the Union or go into administration.
Forget what people say on here. 18 days of strikes have been crippling to Royal Mail and it's their turn to throw the dice.

That’s how I see it as well. It’s easy to knock the CWU but which other union would still be standing after 11 months of attack after attack and still be returning massive yes votes. These amateurs who have been running RM for the last 2 or 3 years underestimated the task of breaking the union. There resignations should be on the table as part of any deal.

Do you really believe that about people cooking for themselves? We're getting fatter and getting lazier. In todays greed, if a company made £50,000000 last year and made £49,999999 this year, they would class it as a loss and cut back. The real world needs to change and the workers need to stand up for themselves.

It’s one of the reasons a lot of offices are toxic. The posters and notice boards are full of things like “a storm is coming” and implying that the managers are basically the anti christ. That the company is always against us.

You don’t think that perhaps it might have something to do with bullying managers, unworkable revisions and being treated as the enemy by RM? This toxic atmosphere you mention?

Yes. No doubt that’s another reason. Probably the main reason. But the CWU, in my opinion, need to stop pointing at the company as if it’s our enemy. It’s why every change seems to be met with resistance. A good union works with the company. Right now; I think the union have got to stop with the empty slogans and insults and pointless tweets. If anything it’ll make the resolve of the management even greater.

A good Union was working with the company under the pathway to change agreement. The company then decided it didn't want to work with the Union and started imposing executive action, and this is where we are now. The problem is not the Union.
