This is a real possibility if they can show the financial stability of the company is in danger. Saying losing a million a day is just cause. With interest rise today and banking crisis it will be difficult finding a lender for a loan for an amount that Royal Mail requiresCRIBMAD wrote: ↑23 Mar 2023, 19:54Rumors abound that if no agreement is reached (doubtful now) then RM will liquidate the company ! this is what they have been after all the way methinks. • You wouldn’t get redundancy from a liquidated company.CRIBMAD wrote: ↑23 Mar 2023, 19:54Rumors abound that if no agreement is reached (doubtful now) then RM will liquidate the company ! this is what they have been after all the way methinks. • There is no way ANY government would allow Royal Mail to go into liquidation
• Royal Mail would not go into liquidation first anyway - it could be put into administration, where the administrator would try to find a buyer.
• If the company was seriously in trouble I would imagine an EGM would need to be called.
• Much like RM bought it’s own shares from profits - it could also create and sell shares to raise cash (true this would go down like a sack of s**t with the market, but it is an option).
• RM is part of the IDS group, which includes GLS - therefore if IDS are liquidated that would include GLS.
• A split of the two companies is more likely at this point - with I assume RM/shareholders getting proceeds from the sale.
• Royal Mail’s name has significant value on it’s own - another reason why liquidation is unlikely
Anyway I hope you take from this that all this rumour of Royal Mail going into liquidation is not backed by and substance.

Well least now they aren't bullshiting around and saying talks are progressing even though there was loads of evidence that it wasn't the case at all. It was obvious that RM was stringing them along the moment they even stepped foot in the room after releasing the Joint Statement. They literally fell for the same tactic they used during the talks in the lead up before Christmas. Simon and Ward coming out and saying "talks were going well and we're positive" only for them to fall through last minute. They have a lot of convincing to do with the members to get them back, especially after blowing the same horn as Royal Mail on things being bad on the financial side. Me? I think I'm done with all of it, not taking anymore of a hit from this sham of a company. Be the best I can be elsewhere, what a waste. I feel for those that are choosing to stick on this ship but cannot allow myself to stay in a company that constantly takes the piss outta us while giving so little in pitiful pay deals. Heard all the stories in the past on how these talks always go, and not one person has said the job has improved.

Royal mail cannot be liquidated but brought back under government control, the same as with Rail Track and the share holders compensated. The government will run it the same as Network Rail. But different contract of employment will more than likely apply.

Personally I will carry on quietly quitting, since the revision came in I’ve done less work. I no longer go the xtra mile for customers or Royal Mail.Finish time wether I’ve 50 houses to deliver or 500 doesn’t make a difference, I go home no matter what is left.
I can pinpoint the moment I realised we’d lost when the guy held up ‘Vote Yes’ poster behind Thompson at the select committee. Schoolboy and amateurish.
We had the upper hand, we had the mandate, we had the opportunity to hold Christmas as a bargaining tool to sort a deal. We let it slip, not because of the workforce but because our union didn’t go hard on the company. Getting likes on social media or stating I’m with the CWU in posts on Facebook was never going to win the dispute. All out would have concentrated minds on both sides.
Now like me, many have stopped paying their union subs. My rep was brilliant but he has been let down by the people at the top.

The vote yes sign was also a very silly thing to do and was just trying to get clicks and likes on social media. Problem is social media isn’t real life and that won’t get us a decent deal.

Re: An update for Royal Mail Group members - Twitter 18:57 23/03/2023
As stated previously, The Government will run it with an appointed administrator under state control at taxpayer expense, eventually offloaded to the highest bidder.
More than likely broken up into individual units like BT and British Gas, with each unit having a USO commitment.
The trading name Royal Mail Group Ltd might remain, but the group companies under a different name with new contracts of employment TUPE might apply or the dreaded fire and rehire scenario. Depends how long the taxpayer is prepared to offer subsidy.
But this is a worst case scenario and speculation

Totally agree, once they (RM) lost the staff who aren’t ‘militant’ or ‘easy pickings’ they have lost any chance of units being cleared ever again. The only way out now is RM going down the tubes.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2023, 20:39I’m the same now. The managers at my place have given up. Even the manager who designed the revision has said no way will it work but the area manager pushed it through.
The saddest part is our last revision was an actual success and we were clearing everyday no problem.

It’s an interesting point you make, I was only thinking this morning that our handful of strike breakers have either left or are so pissed off they are working to rule as well.
