It's clear that talks have gone badly, just as RM planned them to be. Any other union would have done no better in terms of the outcome of the disput. Sure CWU made a few silly errors along the way, but we are where we are because RM want this situation. It takes two parties to negotiate. What else could the CWU do? They had to give the talks a chance otherwise what is the point of actually seeking a deal.

Considering revisions are being forced through, some offices are having start times changed, and harassment continues, there seems only pay to be addressed now, and further striking will only reduce the likelihood of even that happening.

The CWU have failed.

Look past your hate hard on for thompson him being sacked solves nothing. He is not a one man show he is a fall guy CEO doing the shareholders and upper managements bidding.striking indefinitely is dumb and would fail people cant afford to do it

The update will say...they aren't happy with the forced revisions, duties being removed, duty holders not knowing what they are doing or when their next day off will now be. Stay strong, we can do this. Blah blah, afterall win the vote win the battle or whatever nonsense the cwu said

Rumors abound that if no agreement is reached (doubtful now) then RM will liquidate the company ! this is what they have been after all the way methinks. Start up with a different name, you can either take a shitty contract or take redundancy ! Bring on the redundancy !

I think everyone needs to just realise that this job as we know it is dead and it can’t be saved. We will be walking miles, have no regulars walks and in the current climate will be on poor pay. It will never improve, the union will not save us or the job, It’s over.
To save your mental health, either just work your hours and treat the job as management treat it…. A high turnover crappy job.
The other option is leave and forget about the s**t hole of a company.

Whilst this is a frustrating update, they could have just told us all the situation tomorrow.
I can wait until then.
But I hope it's a full and honest update tomorrow. We all know what is going on office to office.

Update tomorrow. Probably will go along the lines of, theres much talking still to be done, more tea to be drunk and we haven't finished the biscuits off yet although we are down to the rich tea and plain digestives now so we will talk for another week and update ya'all next Friday. It looks increasingly like Royal Mail's tactic and priority right now is to get the workers turning against the union

As soon as 'win the ballot, win the dispute' was uttered and then deadline dates were announced - it was in RM's interest to call the unions bluff ( and no strike dates have been forthcoming ) and let the pressure mount from the members eagerly wanting the dispute 'won' when the union said it'd be won

It seems to be bearing fruit
