Well thanks for not holding judgment!weary_posty wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:07Very disheartening. We were told to give the CWU the mandate… we have TWICE.
Each video update is the “most important update of this dispute” yet all we hear is bloviation and no real detail.
It’s been over a year now… 18 days, overtime cut & revisions forced through. For what?
Talks, more talks, some more talks, talks talks talks!
I can never and never did cross a picket line but I can no longer hold judgment to those who did because what exactly has our solidarity achieved?
Personally I never thought it was going to end well. Once you could see RM not budging it was clear they weren’t going to back down. And the CWU with their one day strikes here and there and then cancelling strikes last minute and the constant rhetoric was just prolonging the inevitable.

I mean... (And this is 3 of the 5 people I've worked with this week) refusing to help with sorting, taking their 20 minute break in office despite taking at least 30 mins of "just having a fag/ just grabbing a coffee/ just chatting to so and so" breaks while expecting someone else to put their work in, then doing the bare minimum when out (finishing a walk and having a ciggie for 5 minutes each loop, cutting off 40 minutes early and driving the scenic route back with a bunch of undelivered mail and packets that definitely could have been finished in time and still left time for a break)chickenwittle wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:49What do you mean hindering everyone? Our DO is back to "every postie for themselves," some fighting over overtime, others dragging their heels as much as possible and hindering everyone else who just wants to do the job and go home
I fully get the "don't give them an inch" attitude, but if you're deliberately bringing work you could have finished back for the next day to "prove a point," you're only really messing up yourself the next morning. Royal Mail make the job unnecessarily difficult as it is, don't make it worse

Re: Update sort of.
I honestly can't see us ever getting a deal while this current management are in charge! They have their own agenda which isn't one that ends well for us, if they succeed.
If the USO means so much to the government maybe it's time they stepped up and either bring royalmail back into public ownership. Or subsidised it. As the current management doesn't seem to understand that if you want to own royalmail it comes with a commitment to run the USO and not cherry pick the bits you like.

This is why I laughed when people questioned why I didn’t stand in ‘solidarity’ with them.Kenfandango wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:38I mean... Yes. But not just 1 or 2 days. A week at a time once a month. Might make them smell the coffee. The firm’s a joke.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:55Call them and see if it focuses their minds. It’s been s**t or bust time for a while anyway, let’s just get on with it.

Think what they mean is they still would have to take it back out the next morning only this time it would be double mail.sixfoottwo wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:44Why's that? Re: Update sort of.
So disappointed with the Union and of course royal mail. For weeks the union have given us false hope that a deal may be close, and we're at square one still. Also they keep spouting bullshit like, "win the ballot, win the dispute". We won the ballot, and are no closer to a deal. Just keep getting people's hopes up, and deluding members to the truth.

Re: Update sort of.
Why can’t they just get the deal done while addressing the revisions and suspensions. Surely if there’s an agreement in place then the reps should be able to discuss with managers how to approach wrong doings and future revisions. If not then where does it all end.The suspended workers should be legally protected if they haven’t done anything wrong. For pities sake can we just get on with it.
